I like so many was at work. After we heard the news of the first plane hitting, I figured that something had gone wrong and that this was a terrible accident - then of coarse it wasn't. It was a terrible tragedy. I was in
Atlanta
at that time and it was so quite that evening at home when I was outside walking the dog. We lived about 25 miles from the Atlanta airport and all day long planes were taking off from ATL or just about to land and they were always over our house, not loud, but just there and you could hear them a little. I guess with everyone inside watching TV that evening and no planes in the air except a few fighter jets from nearby Airforce Base in
Marietta, GA
, it was just so incredibly quite.
I was born and raised in NY, but only knew one person that worked at the Towers, he was up out of the Subway when the 1st plane hit and immediately crossed into Brooklyn as so many others did.
A few weeks after 9/11 I flew home to NY and landed in
Newark
, as usual you could see the NY Skyline, but this time it wasn't the same. It was like looking at someone who just had there 2 front teeth knocked out, obviously something was missing.
I too was scheduled to fly later that week on 9/16 to
Orlando
for a trade show that was ultimately cancelled.
We will never forget.
GOD BLESS !!
