Bob McQueen - MO - Sunday, 9/9 Update
OH Family,
I just spoke with Lori McQueen and received an update on Bob. She is currently at home with the kids (for the first time in 3 weeks) and the little news she has received over the weekend from the SICU is "No Change". Bob is still in critical condition in the ICU but continues to be stable as he has for the last 2 weeks.
On Friday, the Doctors did take Bob off of the drug that has kept in the drug-induced coma and so far while he has opened his eyes briefly a couple of times, he has not come to consciousness as of this morning.
Nurses put Bob in a chair yesterday to see if that could help stimulate things and perhaps coax him into consciousness, but on multiple occasions he would lean over to the left and they feared he might fall out of the chair - so they put him back to bed.
One positive note...for the first time since surgery, Bob was not running a fever this morning. Lori was hoping this is a sign that his pneumonia is subsiding.
Bob's wife, Lori is a Wal-Mart employee and while it's fortunate she's gainfully employed, they are no longer allowing her to remain in Columbia full-time. She's got to return to work or lose her job. Lori's Mom & Dad are in the Columbia area so they are close by so that's a comfort to her. Lori hopes to be able to work on limited schedule and then be able to get back to Columbia and be with Bob. Not only has Bob had a rough time, so has Lori and she needs our support too!
Tomorrow is the 4-week mark...4-weeks since Bob went into surgery and 4-weeks since he's been conscious and alert. He's a fighter, but still desperately needs all of the well-wishes and prayers we can give him.

LOSESMART! LOSESTRONG!
I normally don't offer things like this but I want to throw it out there to the crowd. What would people say if we took up a type of collection for Bob and his family to show our support? Like if we did it through a moderator or something through paypal or what not? I know that this has to be an extreme financial hardship on them even though their insurance may be paying I am sure with all the SICU bills and then the surgery on top of it his bill will push into the high hundred thousands. What does everyone think?
She very well may be protected under FMLA, but even still it would not provide her with any income while she's off.
I don't know their financial situation but I'm sure that if they are like 90% of us, they need every $ that can come in.
I agree with Wally World corporate/management being a bunch of heartless *******s. It's amazing how the largest retailer in the world can have so few benefits for their employees.
