Pre-op hunger

I had the same pre-surgery thoughts.  After 8 weeks post op, I can eat almost everything I did before with some exceptions such as candy, sweets, etc.  I have to watch the sugar intake ( so I eat a bite of a cookie that is sugarless (almost tastes the same).   Of course I can't eat in the quantity that I did before but I can have most of the foods.  For example this morning we went to a restuarant for breakfast.  I had the special @ $2.75 - 2 eggs, hashbrowns, 2 bacons and wheat toast.  I ate one -half slice piece of toast, 3/4 of my eggs and 1 bite of hashbrown, with about 3/4 of a slice of bacon.  I was FULL and stopped.  I had a passing thought about wishing I could eat more...  It was just a passing thought, then I focused on what everyone else was eating... In addition to my menu they had 3 pancakes, biskets & gravy.  I am now amazed at how much people eat.  The beautiful part is I no longer have to be part of this madness.   Best of Luck Mike

In the future you will be able to eat almost all of the foods you ate that contributed to the weight that you are now. You will just be satisfied with eating alot less of them. About once a week I still enjoy going to the local Hometown Buffet. But instead of eating 2-3 plates of food I eat about 1/2 of a plate. I especially love getting a random sample of proteins each of which I can eat about 2-3 bites. I don't even bother with salads or fruits because I can eat all of those at home anytime. I also skip the pastas and other starches.  The food "grieving" gets better as time goes on especially if you don't constantly give in to it.
