Right now I just walk.  Walk with my kids and dog and hope to walk at night by myself.  I have a loop that goes 3.7 miles I'd like to work back up to.  But in the future I hope to incorporate multiple styles of sit-ups, pull-ups, and dips.  I hope to get some equp. from our local play-it-again-sports as well as some surgical bands and some light dumbells. I did all the heavy lifting while playing football and see no need to build up muscle mass like the old days.  I'd like to do just enough to tone. Whats your routine?

I go to a gym 3 mornings a week. I use an ellipical for 30 minutes then I strength train for 30 minutes. While its still nice out I try to bike 10 miles once or twice a week.

On a good month I will run about 75 miles and lift weights about twice a week.  I am with you in that I am toned nicely but have no desire to add mass.  I try to keep a strong core but it has been tough with some low back pain that has crept up over the last few months.  Other than that I stretch almost every day.

Glad you brought this up.  8 weeks out and no routine.  Just walking.  I sure need to get to a gym and sign up. Mike

I started a 6 day a week workout program consisting of, Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays I do 15 to 20 minutes on the treadmill, then hit the pool, do 45 minutes of water aerobics, then 45 minutes of lap swimming. Tuesdays- Thursdays- Sundays I hit the gym. Start off with 45-60 minutes on the nustep cross trainer, then hit 17 different nautilus stations 3 sets of 15 reps, and top it off with the treadmill for as long as I can go. I have been doing this for about 3 months and my health and stamina has increased by leaps and bounds. I am almost 10 months post-op and have dropped 214 pounds.

Hey Jack, greetings from an ex D.C.'er, borned and raised.  I moved to South Florida from the Maryland burbs 3-1/2 years ago.  I miss DC alot, most of my family is still there.   But I'd never leave here.  I used to hang in VA Beach alot, had a lot of friends there and still try to get up there when I visit DC. Here's my routine.  4 days a week I go to the gym.  Each time I do 30 minutes on an eliptical machine and about 20-30 minutes of weights.  On the days I dont go to the gym, I usually go for a fast paced walk around my neighborhood at night, around 2 miles.  Every night before bed I sit in my hot tub for about 15 - 20 minutes, followed by a dip in my pool.  Relieves stress and makes me sleep like a rock at night.  My diet consists basically of protein, meat, seafood, eggs, cheese, nuts, salad occsionally.  I have a protein shake made with 2% milk every morning, and I drink anywhere from 75 to 100 oz. of water or fruit flavored water a day.  Plus sugar free popscycles and creamscycles.  All my vitamins and supplements without fail.  And 2 large cups of Dunkin D coffee everyday (extra cream and Sweet N Low, my biggest vice).  Not much else and I'm pretty happy.  And the results speak for themselves.  I never, ever eat any more that 8 oz. of food at at time, most of the time only 6 or 7 oz.  And even at almost 17 months post op, I never get hungry. Anyway, good luck to you and have a good weekend. John
