CAT scan news - Kinda good!

Hi guys,
I just got the results from my Dr. this evening and they are kinda mixed.  The good news is that I don't have a tumor or a mass growing in there (just under my rib cage on the left side). It turns out that I have an incision hernia, most likely from the punching of a hole for the surgical instruments during my WLS surgery last year. Of course, I got the results 5 minutes after my WLS surgeon left for the long weekend, so I don't really know what the course of action will be till Tuesday, if then. Also, I am soo bummed because I just got on a roll with my weight training and I figure that I will be outta commission for an indeterminate amount of time. RATS.  Also, I do have what is called a 3.5mm peri-pelvic cyst (whatever the heck that is) near my left kidney.

Considering the situation involving Bob in the hospital, I feel verry fortunate to have my problems indeed.  Any comments or suggestions from similar cir****tances will be very much appreciated.

Thanks
Tman

i have a subacious cyst that has come back twice. it grows really big under my shoulder blade. i just had it out a few months ago for the second time. it's doing weird things again so i guess it's time to look at it again for a third time. i won't freak out about it unless my doc does. let's see what he says next week when i show him it's come back a third time. so you may be able to work around this tman. so don't get bummed out. just see how many stitches it will take to hold it. i just stopped doing back work and that was it.

Hey T... peri-pelvic..is the locations of the cyst...sometimes they just go in and drain them with a needle... http://www.urologystone.com/CH14Laparoscopy/renalCysts.html The hernias feel a lot better when they are gone...you may have a good trade off.. Russ

Thanks Russ, The peri-pelvic cyst is pretty much right around the left kidney area and is pretty small, so the Dr. says. I think I am most frustrated by not knowing how much time I will be outta action from the gym after they fix the hernia. I was really getting into the goal reaching part of the weight lifting action.  This last two weeks I pretty much lifted 180% of my highest total two week block since I started 6 months ago. Kinda sucks that I will most likely have to stop for a while, but worse things could have come out of the CAT scan for sure, so I am counting my blessings. I appreciate the reply man! Tman

Hi Tony, Good to see your still kicking around to board my brother.  Sorry to hear about the hernia, can you use it to help pay for some PS for the lower body? I'm still doing great, I have lost a total of 241lbs from 460lbs down to 219 and holding for the past 6 months. I have taken the summer off from the gym after 14 straight months but I still walk/hike 15-25 miles a week, play volleyball, shoot pool, and I have found that I can eat just about anything I want in moderation and I hover with 5 pounds of 219lbs now. To much fat still causes me to feel lousy and too much sugar give me a headache but overall I feel 20 years younger. I still have the ache and pains of an 48 year old somedays. Hope you get past this setback quickly and get back into your routine before you know it. Regards, Tim

Hey Tim, You're lookin pretty stylin in that sweet ride of yours.  I have been pretty stuck at 278 (down 152) for about 3 months now.  I really hit the wall and only now am smart enough to get back into my locker room environment, once again to be challenged by my old friends. Shame and guilt hurt me and helped create that 430 pound monster, but I'll be damned if I will let the blessing that was my WLS be wasted by old and familiar ways of addressing life's challenges. I hope you don't mind me bugging you in the future for some more of that inspiration stuff. Tman Thanks Tim
