Dave, Plenty of prayers headed your way as well. The feeding tube? I got some experience there. I had one for right at 6 months! The “mix” they had in my pump, was- Promote® High-protein liquid nutrition with fiber. It claimed to be “Vanilla flavor,” but when I tasted some It tasted like raw chicken and cat-poo with some vanilla flavor added. Grossest stuff ever. But, it did give me ALL of my nutrition needs for quite a while. Here’s a link- http://store.darisimall.com/308411.html

The tube that goes in through the belly is held in by a “balloon” Sort of structure.  The tube itself can get clogged or partially clogged As the liquid “food” sticks to the insides of the tube. A little water between bags of liquid nutrition will keep it “flushed.” Mine had an additional port where I could “feed in” meds. Crushed B-1 vitamins dissolved in water, Effexor, etc… The skin right around the entry of the tube Can get slightly irritated and will need to be cleaned fairly often. Just swab it with a Q-tip and add a little Neosporin around it. Mine had a “split-pad -4x4 Gauze Sponge” that kept it clean And dry.  It had to be taped on to the skin. Use a “Skin-Prep” wipe to cut down on irritation of repeated taping. This is the type I used- http://www.metromedicalonline.com/420400.html

Since I was unable to have anything by mouth- (NPO) For quite a while, I used these little “sponge-on-a-stick” things That I got from the hospital.  Some were just for water, but others had mint or lemon flavor. I think the lemon type had glycerin or some such that helped Keep my mouth from being too dry. Do have your Bariatric Doc be in touch with your Chemo/Ra therapy folk. Who ever is setting up your tube feeding business Should make sure they have all the info from the Bariatric Surgeon. Hollar if you have any questions… I drug my feeding tube and pump and bag around for quite a while. It’s a pain, but will keep your energy up. Keep us posted! Best Wishes- Dx

Hello Dave, I've had a number of family members go through various treatments for various types of cancer, and an uncle who had the sort of cancer and metastasis that you have. The stuff the experts have in their arsenals these days is truly amazing. I think being associated with UK for treatment is a smart move. You know there'll be a lot of guys pulling for you. Good luck and all my best hopes and prayers to you.
