Can't wait to be on your team!
First of all, I would like to say a big thank you to each and everyone of you.
I've been ready your posts on a daily basis for the last few weeks trying to get as much information possible on the WLS. I will have my surgery (sleeve gastr.) on October 15th and even if I know I will be in good hands with my surgeon, there is a lot of questions that I was asking myself for both before and after the surgery.
I'm learning new things everyday and I'm sharing the info with my wife who will also be getting her WLS on September 17th.
I know this will be a new start for both of us and it will most likelly easier with you help and suggestions...
I'm 5'7, my highest weight was 400 (last month). I down 15 since the beginning of the month. My surgeon wants me to drop at least 20 more before the surgery so I've started to get back to the gym on a daily basis.
Sorry if I don't have a picture but it should come soon...

Glad you found us!
I started out at 351, 6'3" tall. Yes, I'm taller and not as heavy as you and some others, but the need for the surgery is the same for all of us. Cool thing is that you'll lose faster than I did, and you'll lose a lot more than I did. I lost 121 lbs in 12 months. That averages to ten pounds per month, but that's not how it happened at all. I lost about 40 lbs. the first month, then about 10 the second month, then about 5-7 for the next few months, then it slowed down to about 2-3 per month since. I actually didn't mind the slower weight loss, if you can count that as slow, because it gave my skin a chance to keep up with my shrinking body. I still need to have just a little extra skin trimmed along my waistline though. It's not bad considering what I looked like when I started. I would write some about the food changes, but you're having a different surgery than I had. I know there are differences, but I don't know much about them. Sorry. I know we have at least one guys who has had the gastric sleeve, or is it called the vertical banded gastroplasty, not sure. I wish you and your wife the best. Keep us posted.

Welcome Dany! We have several "couples" going through WLS together here. It is a different "Journey" for the Gals. Hollar out with any questions, concerns, thoughts, etc… This Board is sort of like an all-request-station- Only as good as the requests made of it. I hope you find all of the info, experience and support That this bunch has to offer. Best Wishes- Dx
Thanks Guys for the support.
I think that at age 34, this is the best gift that I can get... I'll post some updates during the journey ( I'll try to write with less typo and grammar errors... man! I've lost my english since I moved to Montreal)...
I know WLS will help me drop some weight but I'm not sure what should be the goal weight. Any advices on evaluating this??? I know 2 years ago I had made some tests and I was told that I had about 225 pounds of lean mass. I know the muscle mass will go down as well ... but I can't really see myself at the 140 pounds level like the chart is showing...

Welcome to the board. There is so much information to be had here. As far as goal weight, I have one in mind for myself, also one the doctor would like. I started at 346. Dr says 200 would be good. Looking at BMI, for me to be"normal" would mean 160's. I figure I'll work with the tool and see where it gets me. So far (since May 21), I'm down 85lbs. Everyone is different. I'm working out and walking. Much more active (lost 7 lbs on vacation last week - when did that ever happen before?)
Final weight?? Who knows. We'll see when we get there (and more importantly - stay there).
Welcome again,
Brian
