What u think
Hey everyone, hope all is well. First I just wanted to let everyone know that on Oct 6th I will be heading down to Ross Island ANTARCTICA!!!! YEA!!! Assuming I get PQ'd (Physically Qualified) which all I am doing is waiting for my blood work.
Anyways, I was at the grocery store the other day and found a CARB FREE SUGAR FREE CALORIE FREE Soda....It is called "Jones" It also is caffeine free....Is this safe to drink? I bought a pack of 4 and they sit fine but I was wondering what is everyones take on the carbination? Is it safe for the pouch? I try to make it as flat as I can by leaving it out overnight open and then putting it back in the fridge before....What do ya'll think?
I'm not sure what eveyrone else's take is on this, but ...
At 13 months out, I still avoid anything carbonated. I avoid all soda like it's going to kill me if I even breathe the fumes.
Carbonation, as I understand it, WILL strech the pouch. That's the same reason they tell you not to drink using a straw, is because you can get air trapped in the pouch, and strech it out.
Not to mention that i"ve seen articles that state that diet sodas actually increase the appetite.
So, I avoid it. I drin****d tea, water, coffee, and Crystal Light.
Good luck!
I am not sure if I stole this or not but stretching the pouch with carbonation would be like trying to blow up a balloon with two holes. It can't be done. I will drink diet coke or sprite zero every once and a while. With the coke I usually let it sit for a while and don't usually finish the whole thing.

Every surgeon gives post op instructions ....you should follow your surgeon's instructions esp as a new post op. There are compelling arguments on both sides about why we shouldn't drink soda ..or why it's ok. But as a new post op, I'd probably say no...it's not a good idea. why? Because it's a little known fact, but diet sodas actually make you hungry. In recent years there have been a lot of studies that show that people who drink diet soda are generally heavier then those that do not....while they have not proven which came first.....there is clearly a link between the two.
I drink soda......but it was at least a year before I did....I couldn't /wouldn't do it as a new post op.
