Now I'm a "Clothes Horse!!!" Rant....
Hey all....
Before my WLS, at 404 lbs I could care less about what I wore. As long as it was BIG enuff around the waist not to "crimp" my belly when I sat or lay around the couch all nite and weekend, I was a happy camper.
Fast forward now 46 weeks, 167 lbs gone, 19" off my 60" waist gone...and now I LOVE clothes!!!!
I have many new Dockers and sport shirts that actually match too color wise. I have a couple of great pairs of new tassel loafers and golf shirts from LLBean and I'm about the proudest I've ever been and I LOVE MY LOVE FOR CLOTHES now that I look good!
Last week, at a Walmart - the second time I've ever been to one btw (as they just don't carry 60" waist size pants etc), I bought 2 new pairs of Dockers, 3 new Levis golf shirts and 3 pairs of new boxer briefs all in LARGE size. And all for less than $60 CDN. I just about S**T --- and asked my wife when I got home how long this Walmart place has been offering up such great brand name clothing at such low prices.
She laughed, and told me like forever! Which makes me realize that at my big old self, I was "****ooned" away from much of the life around me. I had never even been out where many/most folks go for their lives....being fat made me a loner. And while I didn't know any better...now....I can honestly say, I'm so very very happy that I had my WLS. I've rejoined the human race!
Course....the wife says proudly too, that trading one addiction (to food) for another (clothes horse) aint' such a bad thing....and she hugs me now AND her arms go all the way around!
Woohoooooooooo! Bit of rant, but I just wanted to say I'm so stinking happy!

Hey Jim,
You're not alone & I'm glad you "ranted" (though it sounds more like a yahoo! to me). It's good to know that my growing interest in clothes isn't some disease--or is it? Anyway, I agree with your wife: an addiction to looking good is better than an addiction to food. Now if I can just convince my wife to agree with your wife . . .

Ain’t it great?
Wait till you find yourself looking into Mall clothes…
My old-azz shopped at the GAP. Why?
Because Now I can!!
Careful though,
Those Wal-Mart clothes are just the “gate-way-drug.”
You may not “hit bottom” till you’re in an Armani Suit.
Congratulations!!
Best Wishes-

Jim,
It's amazing how much joy we were missing out when it came to shopping. In the past six months, my closet has gone from bare to crowded once again. It used to be crowded with clothes that wouldn't fit. Enjoy this feeling. Wait until you can't buy clothes in the men's department and are forced to shop in the boy's department. That is a whole different feeling too. Congrats!

It is a great feeling isn't it. I am having to discover what my fashion sense is. I always shopped for what I could find, now I shop for what I want. Its such a big difference. I hate to say it, but I love shopping for clothes now too. Great job
