Shoe Store - my feet are shrinking........

Hey all.............     Just wanted to share a shopping experience with everyone......    I started this journey at 6'10" 547 pounds back in March of this year - i'm still 6'10" but i'm down to 374 (as of yesterday), and i'm still cruising along............      Years ago i wore a 13 Medium shoe/boot, but for many years i've been wearing a 14 EEE (extra wide) and have been buying shoes on the internet.   Anyway, my 14's have felt very big on me, but i didn't really think my feet had "shrunk" - even though i can definitely tell my feet/ankels aren't swollen anymore. So, I saw an ad for the 1/2 off sale that Famous Footware has going on right now, and decided "what the hell" - i'll go in and measure my feet.   Well, i would never have even gone into a shoe store prior to WLS, because i knew i'd never be able to get my damn shoes off and on in the store without MAJOR manuevering............  But, i went in and saw the foot sizing thingy on the floor, but no sales person around - so, i started to browse............. I saw some Timberlands that i liked, and they had a 13 medium, and i thought "what the hell" (again), and decided to sit down and try them on.   So - i take one of the shoes out of the box and kinda laugh (and cry) inside thinking "there's no way that tiny, skinny shoe will fit on my big fat foot...........  But, i took my 14EEE off, and the 13M slipped on with no problem, and actually fit!!!!!!!!!    I bent down easily and tied the laces, then walked around the store staring down at the little shoe on my foot (yea - i know you're all thinking - it's a size 13, that's NOT tiny - but, it looked so small and skinny compared to my size 14EEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!). So, then i found a sales person to explain the sale to me - for every one pair you buy, you get the next one at 1/2 price..............  so, 45 minutes later i walked out with 4 pair of new shoes and boots!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life keeps getting better and better...................... Chuck

Chuck..... You make an important point....your feet do shrink, and if you don;****ch it, the loose shoes will interfere with your exercise.... so everyone...keep your sneekers tight!!!! Caongrats on the sale....it's neet ain;t it?? Russ

Hey Russ - i forgot to mention the main reason i went to the store in the first place.........  My feet have been hurting, and my shoes have seemed loose, and I've always been told by docs to make sure my shoes fit well..........     So, i'm definitely hoping that wearing shoes that fit properly will help decrease the foot pain...... And, it's GREAT being able to go out shopping again................... Chuck

Chuck -  The same happened to me.  I got a pair of Timberland boots for my b-day in May.  They were to tight.  About a month ago I tried them on for kicks.  They fit!!!  It feals so good.  Keep it up. Sean

My feet have shrunk, too.  I didn't expect that, since I never thought of my feet/ankles as being particularly fat.  I've also never noticed it before when I've lost weight, as it's not so drastic I can't just tighten or loosen the laces.  But the two pair of slip-on dress shoes that had become my standard wear the last year or so have become noticeably flip-flop like of late.  Usually, i have to have wide shoes.  But some nice dress oxfords were recently on clearance because they only had two sizes left, in medium width only (with coupon, from $175 down to $30 free shipping).  I decided to take a chance.  They arrived today, and fit perfectly. Obviously, this first year is going to be expensive for clothes (and medical bills).  But do you ever think that in the long run (maybe even medium run, say five years) you'll come out way ahead due to all the clothing and food savings?

Oh yea..............   I'm less than 6 months post-op, and 175 pounds gone, and thankfully I kept so many "skinny clothes"..................      I am finally at the point where I need to start buying new clothes, and I'm fine with that.    I've already donated bags and bags of clothes to the homeless shelter (there has to be overweight people in need of clothes, and i'm SOOOO glad to donate my "fat" clothes to the shelter, hoping someone can benefit from them)......    I'm glad you found the "skinny" shoes too..............    I'm just soooooo amazed that i can walk into a "regular" store and find so many options................        Congratulations on the weight loss - and, it's GREAT being able to walk into a "regular" store and take advantage of the savings/sales they have going on..................        Chuck

On this note, I just wanted to add that "yup, us canucks too lose shoe sizes!"

At 404 I was a 12 and 1/2 EEE and I always stretched out the ball of the foot area of every shoe.

Now, at 237, I'm 10 and 1/2 and I can wear a reg width!

Hows' that for LOSING!!!

WooHoo!
