Well I guess it's official, for the last 2 days I've weighed in at 200 lbs...and I am AT GOAL!!!!!!!  I am 18 months and 3 days post op from the duodenal switch. Starting weight:  492 Surgery weight:  472 Current weight:   200 Total loss:            292lbs Clothing size: Shirts:  From 6-7x shirts to  Large and some mediums Pants:  From a 74 plus (the kind with stretchy waist bands) to 36/38 ( i have a lot of excess skin around the middle that has to be accomidated right now) underwear:  6x  to medium.  How's my eating?   Well, I'm one of those "i don't post on the 'what did you eat today' threads because I'd either get flamed or embarass myself types.  Trust me I eat better now then I did as a preop..and enjoy it more now..becuase it's guilt free. .I went to TGI Fridays the other day and ate the Jack Daniel's Appetizer platter with fried shimp, chicken and ribs all covered in this sweet jack daniels sauce....I'd say I ate 70 percent of it.    During dinner I drank 2 diet cokes...and finished off my meal by eating 1/2 the brownie topped with ice cream dessert.  .....now thats a DIET I can live with....lol.  It is weird to be at a point where I don't have to lose weight......I've never had that in my entire life.....ever.   Anyway, I really do thank God for leading me to the DS and to my surgeon.  Scott

Hi Scott,

Don't know what a DS looks like, but seems like you're having fun with it. Congrats on reaching goal (in a big way). It's great to be able to enjoy life the way you want without worrying about weight gain, believe me I know!

It's been a long journey...but thank God I finally crossed the finish line!!!!!   Now just to get back into working out...the past 2 weeks I've been really lazy..  Not that I haven't worked out, but it's just really hard to stay motivated to push myself.  I don't need to lose weight anymore, a lot of my results can't be seen because of loose hanging skin....so it's almost like ...ummm why am I killing myself?     I know it's good for me, I know it helps skin retract as much as it's going to retract...heart health...etc etc....but it is difficult to stay motivated.   Scott

Hi Scott,

I have to change exercise types and even emphasis to stay excited. If the need to lose weight is gone, then maybe you need to find some kind of exercise that really motivates you.

For about 16 months it was weights, now sprinting and speed training/ weight vest training/ stair training have taken over (weights are still a main focus, but I was overtraining before). Climbing, running fast and hauling heavy loads seem to stimulate me and give me a feeling of dynamism.

Wonder if you might find another motive besides losing weight?
