Ok, I just used fitday for the first time yesterday. Do they not believe in the use of a grill?????? I just wanted to enter in what I thought would be simple (4oz of grilled chicken and 2oz of grilled shrimp) I could not find grilled anything on their site. Any help? Am I just blind?

When I used fitday, don't anymore, there were a lot of foods that I consumed, but they didn't have listed. There is an option to make a custom food. I would simply get the nutrition info from the package and enter into the site. Once you do that, it's there in your list of frequently consumed food. You would be able to add it anytime you consume it.  Ron

They often list broiled.  It's going to be very similar on most foods.

Cameron, As Ronnie said, you have to use the Custom Food area quite abit when you first start using FitDay.  Once you get your common food choices in there, it's a great tool.  I don't use it anymore, but the first six months after surgery, I used it every day and it helped me immensely to lose my 140 pounds in just 6 months.  Whenever I had an appointment with my surgeon, I would log on and he could see exactly what I had consumed.  It's an eye opener on what you are really consuming.  Good luck. I use fitday... just the like the other guys said, I have to configure a custom food if I can't find anything close to the verb of preperation.  But also sometimes just typing in the general food and sifting through the lists to see of a preperation method might show a likely candidate... like boiled vs stewed.  broiled vs grilled etc.

By the way, two good sources for custom food values are: http://www.nutritiondata.com/ http://dietfacts.com/ The latter will actually import directly into Fitday with a single click, and is great for entering restaurant meals.

Thanks for that Ardbeg, I'm going to check that out...I just started using it fitday this week. I really like it...Especially in helping me figure out my protein intake...I have been using it to work the program to a tee this week and suddenly my low-energy, fatigue, and dizziness when standing up have all seemed to take care of themselves - gotta get that protein and water in. It's elementary! seems simple but it really isn't, with fitday though, its a lot easier...

I used Fitday religiously for my first year. Now I use it as a maintenance tool. The good thing is once you place it into the system it is there for you. As far as grilling, if you aren't using oil or fat it would be the same as broiling or baking without fats. Remember most of this stuff is estimation and averages on the lavbels anyway. Just try to stay in line. This really helped when at the end of the day, I could see what I had left that I could eat. Then I would eat accordingly. Only have 5g of fat left, what can I have? Did I have enough protein for the day? etc.

I used fitday religeously for the first 13 months post op. I swear by it because it makes you accountable for every bite you put in your mouth if you are diligent about not skipping any foods ingested. It also has a weight goal chart to track your weight loss easily. Once you get used to it I found it to be very user friendly.............
