Bob, Be nice to the Nurses, Ask for more drugs, And hurry home to recovery soon! Early on? Protein will most likely be dependent on supplements. Over time? More meat, less fat, more fiber, less soft drinkable calories…. Keep working "your doc’s program," and by year two you’ll be thin Bob, eating very sensible portions By choice, and without giving it too much thought. And Drive safely to the hospital! Seriously!! Odds are far, Far Greater, hat you’ll have a "complication" while driving! Best Wishes- Dx
Bob, your life as a newby has ended and your life as a post-op about to begin. Just a few more hours of purgatory and you'll be there.
Have really enjoyed reading your posts, I kind of hate to see you pass on to the other side (the post-op side, that is!), where you'll be able to see things much more clearly.
Surgery? You'll never know it's happening, of course. I just woke up feeling like I had a hangover and was joking with the doctor. Then, they put me in the G-suit boots which kick in every 15 seconds and wouldn't let me move for 24 hours, until they wanted to take out the catheter.
After that was gravy train. They had taken me off the drugs already and I was up and walking around and then a couple of days later, I got on the train and plane alone and came back home to go to work the next day.
So, really should be pretty easy.
Sending thoughts and prayers in your direction.
Have a good surgery and see you back on board, hopefully really soon!

Bob, I hear ya, man! 5 more days for me. And as sure as I am that this is the right thing to do, and as confident as I am in my surgeon, I'm starting to get a little queasy. Suddenly, what was academic, is now very real and very much in your face. But, like Dx said, you're much more likely to get in an accident on the way TO the hospital. So, keeping that in mind.... See ya on the other side!
Congratulations on your surgery. Try and relax, it will all be over with before you know it. Be nice to the nurses as they control the drugs and the catheters.
You have never been on a ride this wild before, so buckle up, hang on, and giggle like a fool, let everyone know how much fun you are having.
Just remember to get your protein in and:
Walk, walk, walk,
Sip, sip, sip, and
FART, FART, FART
Can't wait to hear your story in the locker room.
