Lately i've noticed that my stomach is swollen, there's no pain, just kind wierd, this has started about 2 weeks ago after my hernia surgery has all healed up, has this happened to anyone else, and if so, does anyone know what this is before I panic. Thanks, John

John, After my hernia surgery I had an issue with a rather large hematoma at the site of my largest incision...right above my belly button.  The explanation was bleeding that took place after surgery all pooled up in one place.  Dude it was the size of a cantaloupe and it looked like the nasty little creature from Alien was going to burst out of it at anytime...man did it look weird.  I did have considerable discomfort for a week or two.  The swelling did go down after a period of several weeks.  I did attempt to have it drained, but that was unsuccessful.  Was given the choice to have it surgically removed or simply see if the swelling would go down over time...I chose the latter. It was visible for about 4-5 weeks and it was completely gone about 9-10 weeks.  Keep in mind mine occurred immediately after surgery, not two weeks after.  You should have the surgeon look  at it if you've not done so already. John, is it localized at the incision or near it? Could easily be a Seroma or Hematoma. I had a Seroma that was huge. Had mine drained 3 times, and still had to "reabsorb" a good bit of it over time. Do call the doc and get input. Could be "nothing" or "something." Sorry, only your doc will know for sure… But, either, no need to panic. Odds are if it’s anything, it’s an easy fix. At worst it’s a harder fix. Either way, a Fix. Yes? Put in a call, even leave it on the answering machine so they hit the doc with it as he comes through the door. Most Surgeons, Surgical Nurse/Staffs/clinics are really good about ‘getting back’ to their patients with follow-up questions and info. Hope you have the least possible discomfort and inconvenience on your way to 100% recovery. Best Wishes- Dx
