Open invitation to Houston and close to Houston guys!

Hey all -

I had a great oppurunity today to spend it with two of my closest friends.  The reason these friends are close is that they have also had the surgery and have been there thtough the WLS.  Rhett (who also posts here) and his wife Ambar were asked to participate in a photo shoot for thr NuWeigh 2008 calendar.  For those who unfamiliar with NuWeigh - they are a facilitator for individuals to deal with insurance companies.  They are the most awesome organization.  They fight the battle for you for the approval from the insurance company.  You do not have to get involved and deal with the insurance company.

Anyway - we were talking to Debbie who is one of the owners of NuWeigh.  The issue of the mens board here on OH came up.  Rhett and I both explained how GREAT it was to talk to other guys about our issues.  She asked if we had gone to the support groups at NuWeigh, we both said no.  The reason was that there are never any guys.  We explained that, as we all know from being here, that guys like to talk to guys about stuff.  Guys talk to guys differently than we do with woman.  She asked if she had a mens support group here, would we go.  We both said YES.

So - she has asked if Rhett and I will try to organize and see how many men we could get together.  So - we would like to know if there are any men here in Houston or surronding area that would be interested in a Houston Mens support group.  We have the 'upper management' support and now need yours. The groups would meet at the NuWeigh office.  There is one by Reliant stadium (DAMN THOSE TEXANS LOST BY ONE POINT!!!) and they are building another office in The Woodlands.  Depending on how many men are involved - we can do the groups at different levels - pre opt, post opt, 6 months post opt, 1 year post opt, etc, etc..... I know that the mens forum here has helped me out SO MUCH.  I know it has helped you guys out also.  Imagine being able to sit down and talk with a bunch of guys at the same time, about what your going through.  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider the great oppurtunity.  Let me know if you are by a reply post or send me an email.  You can also send an email to Rhett - his id is rhett3147. Myself and Sean are both Insurance Adjusters so we pretty much set our own schedule. so time and place is very open

Hey Sean - This would be a great ting to at least try.  Like Russ said - the big obstacle is gonna be timing for everyone. It's good that the "starting" location is going to be central.  If we start realizing that there are more and more folks from one side of town or the other, we may consider a closer spot. Keep us posted and we'll support it as much as possible. D

It would be nice to meet some of the guys in the Houston area that are also on OH.   I'm game if the date and time is compatiable. Mike
