Read it and weep, boys (article from today's paper). If we had only had this genius for a trainer, none of us would have needed WLS! Battle against the bulge

LAS VEGAS -- As long as Rob Stevens stands 6 feet away from the Flamingo casino in Las Vegas, the Chicago weight-loss coach can peddle his message to the masses, printed on a 3x5 card: "PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE FAT PEOPLE."

This is how Stevens spent Tuesday afternoon in Las Vegas, a trip he took to rile his target audience milling inside the casino -- 1,000 people gathering for the 11th annual BBW Network Bash. That's Big Beautiful Women, here for dance lessons, formal balls, fashion shows and private pool parties. Their bash is a celebration of size.

Stevens founded an anti-obesity organization, the National Association for Body Responsibility, and now he's waging a sidewalk war against the overweight.

"It's tough love," Stevens says. "But if they actually listened and let my words penetrate their skin -- I was gonna say fat skin' -- they could actually change their life with this information."

I like to think that this azzhat is simply an outlier, but you know he's getting lots of people who come up and agree with him.  Sigh.  The struggle continues.

Geez..... nothing will **** off a fat chick faster than with holding food..... he may get some action.... Instead of with holding food....he could drop a chicken leg in the middle of them, and let them go at each other, like something of a Michael Vick Video...... Russ i know i;m in trouble

Russ, In trouble? You? Nah. 'Course not. Oh, by the way, I've forwarded your response to BBW headquarters.

Why are you on this website?  Did you have WLS or a lobotomy?

It reminds me of a great TV moment. Howard Stern had his channel 9 show in NYC and he had Richard Simmons on with some people of exceptional girth. All of a sudden, a chicken and I believe a twinkie were lowered on a fishing pole into the middle of the group of them. Richard got up and started yelling at Howard. Even though I was a blimp at the time, I still laughed my ass off.

Although I understand the concepts of negative reinforcement... when it comes to weight loss, it just compounds the problem.. it's almost militant.  We already get so much negative energy tossed our way just by being seen in public.  Not to mention our own psyche beating the crap out of us with feelings of guilt and dispair.  The only times I've had successes with prior weight loss was by keeping a positive attitude and getting support from others to balance out the energy. This Steven's guy is a gimic just like most other fad diets... all diets work, but one diet doesn't work for everyone.  he's being very astute by saying his plan works with anyone that listens to him and not thinking that he won't have failures.
