Who rides???
I had a Suzuki GS 750 in the 70s and a 700 Intruder cruiser in the 90s. Love the cruiser, the Intruder was a sweet bike. My only input, go with someting that has a larger fuel tank than the sportster. I've always wanted a soft-tail or springer. Maybe after the kids are grown. Wife doesn't like me riding either. Toyed getting another but never replaced the Intruder after a wreck with a car that cut in front of me going into a shoping center. No serious injuried because I was going so slow at the time, but he bike was totaled.
Ah, one of my goals when I get my health back, is to return to riding. I've had several over the years, but had to give it up after a fall a few years back. A pinched nerve and paralysis of one leg left me with a pretty lawn ornament to pay insurance on... nothing like trying to balance a bike when you can't feel the ground.. forget trying to brake...
I've had a '63 BSA 650, 1973 Yamaha 750, 1983 Honda Nighthawk, but my fav was a 1978 Kawasaki KZ750 B Twin. It was surprisingly big framed for a small bike, and even with me at over 500lbs at the time, was decently quick off the line... no top end, but was great short hop bike. I removed the emblems from the tank, repainted it. The mufflers had long since burned out, and with that two cylinder cackle, many people thought it was an old Triumph.
I'm finally getting the feeling back in my leg, so post surgery, another bike will be one of my first things to get. Of course my brother had to torture me by coming by on the '98 Heritage he got off ebay.. LOL.
