I have finally surpassed a milestone that I have been working towards since the beginning of this journey. For the first time in my life I completed my 5k treadmill workout (12.5 laps or 3.125 miles) in under 50 minutes!  I did it in 49:35 I had to jog a lot which is the hard part but now I can go up to 400 meters at a time (1 lap) at a 4.5 mile an hour jog - my heart rate gets way up there around 170-180 and then I slow down to 3.5 mph... The coool thing is that I now spend about half of the time on the treadmill jogging... My next goal is to exclusively jog for a half mile....Oh yeah one more goal - find a tight compression shirt to hold my floppy moobs tight when I'm jogging or maybe a "bro"

Congrats, Mike!! You're on your way and it's cool you are monitoring the old ticker. You'll be amazed how quickly your times will drop and, at the same time, your average heart rate will drop as well (i.e. you're getting in better shape.). I used to chart my progress on Polarfitness.com and it was a hoot to see the results of my hard work. Keep on keepin on!! Boner

Congrats, Mike!  I am working on a 5K training program that I started 2 days ago.  My goal is to run one in 6 months, and I knkow I will get to.  Ya know, 6 months ago, I was puffy, looked terrible, felt terrible, and now... wow!  I can walk a 3.5 pace for 5K... I can say no to pop, candy, other fun things, I am not sweating all the time, I am actually feeling my butt bones poke my rear... If all that can happen in six months?  Welcome to the miracle!  And I do echo the comments for a 'bro'

3.5 mph is pretty much how I started it. When I started to feel more energetic I started to work in the jogging by going for as long as I could every ninth minute. So at minute 9:00, then again at 19:00, 29:00, etc. ...After a few weeks or so I have gotten to wear I can jog a whole lap at 4.5mph  which I think is around 3:00 minutes....What got me over the 50:00 hump was going to doing half of each lap at a jog, then the second half at a walk, then back to jogging again....That's just the plan that worked for me, thought I would share...
