Darvocet is fine.  Like any narcotic combined with a tylenol like otc pain medicine you have to be careful of how much you take and how often.  The narcotic part is highly addictive. It's like people using vicodin or hydrocodone to excess (yes I know all about it!). Darvocet is a strong narcotic pain reliever and is good for use for 2-7 days. It's normally used for moderate to severe pain in post operative patients.  Most anyone who has a major operation is given a prescription for some kind of narcotic pain reliever (sometimes in liquid form like WLSers get)  to use after surgery for several days. I took it for two weeks but only really needed it for the first four days after surgery.  I kept taking it until I ran out mostly because it relaxed away the stress of having had such a major surgery. I am not advocating that anyone else do that tho. JP

Most all of the Narcotics seem to absorb and work fine for WLS Post-op Folk. Beyond 7 days it gets dicey as to addiction, but for a while? Nothing beats the opiates for killing pain. They don't seem to be affected by the Mal-absoption. Hope you back straightens out soon. Best Wishes- Dx
