Emergency Room

Well I have been recovering really well.  I went for about my 5th walk yesterday when all of a sudden I had SEVERE pain in my right side.  I called the doc and he said to go to the hospital.  I stood up to leave, burped and the pain was gone. I was like...ohh, I guess it was just really bad gas.  So I go on my walk and about halfway up the block, the pain is there again.  I was crippled by it, could hardly stand up.  My mother who was thankfully with me, rushed me over to the emergency room. I was met by a nurse who RNY about 5 years ago and was quite the looker.  In any case, they went and took some X-rays and labs and found out my little drainage tube had manage to work its way up my right side...like way way up.  I was due to have it out this Monday, so they whipped it out (felt like someone was pulling out my intestins) and the pain was instantly gone.  All better now, but newbies be sure to pay attention to that drain :)

Nick! Your 5^th Walk Yesterday!? Weren’t you under the knife on Tuesday? Take it easy on yourself! These first two weeks, get in some pamper time! Little walks to keep the blood circulating in your legs, But keep an eye out for pain. 5 months from now you’ll be training for a 5K no doubt, But give yourself another week of vacation now. Good to hear your doc said- "Come On!" And that the problem was a quick fix. Hope you are up to that 5K training soon! Best Wishes- Dx

Not sure if I was lucky...  didn't have a drain I had open RNY.   Glad you are ok.  I'm three weeks out and the only problem has been "weakness".  I think I might have been overdoing it.   I can function fine, but seem weak.  Maybe it is psychological since I know I'm not stuffing my self with food all day long.   Anyway, glad you are better.
