I'm beginning to have doubts

Bob -  I have to agree with CarbonBlob.   If you're having this strong of doubts, then you need to take some time and re-evaluate what it is you want to do. The WLS isn't the end, it's a beginning.  It takes a lot of hard work to make it successful, and if you're not 125% committed to making it work, then you shouldn't do it yet. That doesn't mean you can't do it in the future, just take some time and think about it, and make sure it's what's best for you.  Sit back, take a break from everything for a few days.  I don't know how your surgeon's office works, but mine has regular support group meetings.  Go to them - talk to people who are a few years out and see how they are doing.   From personal experience - I was dedicated to this journey before I started it.  I was ready to make the change.  Ready to get my health in order.  My cholesterol went from sky high to 166 at my last check up.  I'm off all of my BP medicines.  I have no malabsorbtion issues.  I take a multi-vitamin every day just like everyone should, with an extra dose of B-12 under the tongue once a week.  It's no big deal.  Granted, I'm only a year out.  But, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. So - what I think you should do is postpone the surgery.  Like I said, go to a few support group meetings - talk to people who have had the surgery and are long term post-op. Good luck, Bob!

Thank God you are normal.  Your fears are normal.  Founded or unfounded almost all of us have tackled the fear.  At only 3 weeks out I know in the back of my mind it was the best thing I could do. Sometimes I get down because I can't have the junk food any longer.  Sometimes I feel so hungry, then I take two or three bites and I'm full.  In only three weeks out and I can tie my shoes without lifting my leg with my pant-cuff.   I can walk without breathing hard.  I can how have sex 7 times a day...                                                Only you can make the decision.   The fear is normal.   We will stand by you which ever way you go. If there is anything we can do to help you one way or the other, let us know.  The ultimate decision is yours.   Everyone is different, todate I have had absolutely NO complications with my Open surgery.  No Dumping, I was off pain meds by the second day out.  I know we are all different. I wish I could help in someway.  But it is a road you have to travel.   Just know we are on the sideline which ever way you come down the road. Mike Ray

Before you cancel any surgery dates,...find out if you have to go through the insurance approval process all over again. That was fun, wasn't it??

Hey, Bob, instead of being scared and not appreciative think of the people like me who are 50lbs more than you and can't get insurance to cover it! If i could finance i would but i got LOANS from school to pay. I no longer have insurance and already had 2 injuries. I swear, if i was EVER in your position, i would thank the good LORD every day of my life!  ...some people...
