SURGERY ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey guys............... I just wanted to take a minute and post an update.........    I had my Lap RNY on 3/14/07, and my life has been SOOOOO INCREDIBLE ever day since then.....................      I used this site (and the Men's Forum) for so much support before my surgery, and in the days/weeks after my surgery, and I wanted to take the time to make a POST about my post-surgery life. I had my Lap-RNY on 3/14/07, and my life has been SOOOOOO AMAZING since then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!           I don't want to sound toooooo dramatic, but I do want to send out the positive Vibe to everyone else on the boards. I was put on a 3 week pre-op diet of liquid/low carb/high protien, and I followed it to the letter.   I had no pre-surgery "Last Meal" - i figured that I had 40 years of Pizza, Steak, Potatoes, Pasta, Ice Cream, Chocolate, Chinese Food, etc and when my surgeon told me to stick to 800 calories per day for the 3 weeks before surgery, I stuck with it. I went into surgery on 3/14/07 with a BMI of 61.   I honestly thought I might die on the table, but I had spent over 3 years investigating the option of Weight Loss Surgery, and my surgeon, and by the time i decided to have the surgery - I felt very comfortable with my choice in Surgeons.    I have followed my post-surgical directions to the letter, and I do not regret a single moment.   I started this journey at 547 pounds on 2/16 of this year, and as of 7/19 I am 398.   I have gone from a BMI of 61 to a BMI of 41 in about 4 1/2 months.    I have shed 150 pounds and I can get around SOOO much easier than before.   I am so much more active with work and my personal life, and it feels so great to be back in life.    I still have about 125 pounds to go to my Goal Weight, but so far I am right on track.     I take every chance i get to tell people that i had Gastric-Bypass surgery.   I want people to know that I had a VERY SUCCESSFUL surgery, and that if you go to the right surgeon that WLS is a wonderful choice.    I paid 18,000 dollars for my surgery (and, i will be paying that off for many years to come), and i do not regret a single moment of my journey.   This surgery has been around for over 20 years, but many insurance plans (like mine) treat it like an experimental surgery.    I am so glad I realized that this surgery was my only option to save my life.   I am willing to pay for it and wait for my insurance company to "run the numbers" and figure out that by having this surgery, my other health problems would be resolved (I no longer have high blood pressure, sleep apnea, reflux, high blood sugar).   This surgery has given me my life back. I am 40 years old, and I am living life again.   Before my surgery, I could barely walk 20 feet without getting out of breath and sweating up a storm.    I can now walk around and have been able to do the things necessary to buy a new Condo, pack up my stuff, and actually MOVE my household items.     I am "moving" around soooooo much now - and I am truly enjoying life again. This post is long, but I will not apologize for the length.   I have never dumped, and since I have followed my post-op instructions so closely, I was able to return to work quick, and have experienced no eating trouble since my surgery. Thanks for letting me "BRAG" about my progress.   And, for letting me "Give Back" to the men's forum - which gave me so much support during my surgery experience.   And, to explain the title of my post again - I take every chance i get to tell people that i had WLS.    I saw someone today that was asking how i have been able to lose so much weight, and I immediately told her that i had RNY back in march.   It is very important to me to tell people that i am doing so well now, because i was given the TOOL of WLS.     Thanks again for letting me tell my story. OUTSTANDING !!  Yes this tool does rock.  I wish I could be as open as you. I find that I am more open here than any where. I feel the need to try to give something back since I have gotten so much from this site.  pan head

AMEN BROTHER! I feel the same way. When i hear someone on TV trashing WLS, i want to reach into the screen and pinch their damn heads off.

Before judging someone, first walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you do judge them you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
