Men's Fashion
Anyone read the Men's Fashion guide/blog at about.com?
As I'm dipping below the Clydesdale line, I'm wondering about checking out some of the clothes mentioned. Am I alone here in thinking I now deserve a nice pair of fashion jeans, a nice blazer, or a nice suit?
I like the emphasis on getting value for money. Good stuff isn't always cheap stuff. Any other sites out there with this type of emphasis? Perhaps we could start up some field reports on the actual products reviewed here when they come out. Anyone else interested in a project like this?
Men's Fashion = Oxymoron?
Seriously, What basic size are you now?
Where would you be wearing them? Appropriate dress is very dependent upon the situation.
For general business attire, I prefer the Dillard's "Round Tree & Yorke, Gold Label".
Slack will run about $80, dress shirts around $65. Very nice stuff for the price.
My rule on ties, is not to wear one unless I must. When I must, busy ties go with plain shirts, plain ties go with busy shirts.
For a jacket, I prefer the Ralf Lauren made specifically for Dillard's. They seem to have a squarer cut that looks better on me. They run about $300-$400.
Belt should match the shoes, which for me are usually simple, but quality. Johnston & Murphy, usually. (Two things one should never skimp on, quality shoes and a quality bed. JMHO)
Keeping an eye out, they run nice sales every once in a while. I have found the gold label shirts as low as $20 and the pants for $40. Jackets, $199 is about the lowest I have seen for something of reasonable quality.
For business casual, I have found linen dockers that look great. Being linen, they have to be dry cleaned every time, and they are not cheap at about $60- 80 each. owever, they are extremely comfortable and I get guys asking about them all the time when I wear them. For tops with them, the 50's retro shirts are pretty cool, like Charlie Sheen wears on the TV show 31/2 men.
It is nice to be able to buy clothes at regular stores, and for reasonable prices. FART!
Take care.
