FIBER???
I went to my all-day nut. class yesterday, but forgot to ask this question:
It seems like the post-surgery diet is pretty-much fiber-free for at least the first 2-3 months. Now I realize that nutiritional needs change post-surgery, but EVERYBODY needs fiber to keep things moving correctly.
Don't they?

Box, Very early on the- "Liquid in, liquid out" Thing seems to apply for most. "Soft Loose stools" seem to be common. BUT- many a person complaining about constant "Runs" one day, have locked up And found themselves "passing a brick" the next. You can tell a new WLS post-op by the fact that they may have something for diarrhea and constipation In the same shopping cart. Re-fried beans and oatmeal are good sources on the Pureed or mushy stage diets, same with applesauce. And many use some additive like "Benefiber" Once they pass on to more solid foods, But not yet on full crispy salads and such. Get what fiber you can, when you can. It does prevent constipation issues. Read your labels… Best Wishes- Dx
