they had me using a shot glass or medicine cup @ 1oz per sip and they had it timed out that I needed to take a sip ever so many minutes wether it was water or protein shake.  Hope this helps. Dan

Moe. My doc said in the first couple of weeks while on liquids not to worry about getting the protein in. The body was readjusting and it wasn't an issue. When I went onto phase two was when I started taking the liquid protein in addition to the soft foods. Hope that helps.

Same here, one oz. every fifteen minutes. I mostly drank and still do for that matter, sugar free drink mix. In the begining with all the swelling it is hard to get a normal size swallow down. Keep at it, it will get easier.  pan head

I see you had the same medical group that I did! I had Dr Ali. The following info should sound very familiar to you as this is what they told you to do in the classes. The first weeks are the hardest, just keep drinking very slowly even if I don't feel like it. One oz in 5 minutes was the rate my doc had me drink at. After the first week or so, I was able to drink an oz at a time with a 5 to 10 minute rest between the sips. Yes this will take ALL DAY to get your liquids in but what else do you have to do anyway??? I drank Isopure from GNC and got 40g of protein in at the same time. That 20 oz bottle took me nearly two hours to drink but drink it I did. Welcome to the loosers bench! You are at the top of the roller coaster and the train has started moving down the first BIG DROP! Enjoy the ride!!

Moe, SF Popsicles are a good way to keep the liquid flowing in Without even noticing how much you’re "drinking." As others have said, At first, the priority is Hydration…just get in your water. THEN, once you get past the first throws of recovery, worry about protein. Don't even think of it as "drinking," Just keep a sports bottle on hand and keep your tongue wet. You'll be surprised how much water you can "sneak in" a drop or two at a time. To "sneak in" some extra protein with the liquid? I had great success with- Zero Carb Isopure. Comes in 20 oz Glass bottles, Calories - 190, Carbohydrate - 0 g, Protein - 40 g It comes in a number of flavors- Passion Fruit, Apple Melon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Orange, Pineapple Orange Banana, And Mango Peach. On the Down Side- All of them have an after taste that is a little like Sucking on Old Pennies. My first thought when tasting it for the first time- "Who peed in this?!?" The Upside? Cut it half and half (or even more diluted) with some Crystal-Lite And the flavor is hidden completely. Don’t try to get it all down at once either, Just have a little, 4 to 5 times a day. You get in more "water" this way and Slowly "trickling" it into your system insures you Get the maximum benefit from the protein. If you’ve got a GNC store nearby, Stop in and buy a few. It is cheaper to shop around on the net And order a case, but only after you know that you will use it. I found the Orange, mixed with Crystal-Lite Lemonade Was great and so was the Mango Peach Mixed with Crystal-Lite’s Peach Tea. Just thought I’d share What worked well for me. (your mileage may vary) Hang in there, It Does Get Much Easier!

Best Wishes- Dx
