How can I keep Internet explorer from opening up any pdf that I access online?  I access a multi-page post on my job with several pages and thumbnails come up - just more crap for me to wade through.  I would rather my adobe get accessed. Another, my kids did something that made internet explorer first page (yahoo or google)  like 640 x 4xx, huge, but when I go through to sites it opens up the size I want 1024 x xxx.   Thank you geeks, Bob.

Don’t know about the PDF business, But to get your browser to view pages the size you want? Does your mouse have a scroller? Then hold down the Ctrl key and roll the scroll wheel down. That’s the "Universal Zoom in and out" for most PC applications. Best Wishes- Dx

Well, that control key and scroller did the trick, geez, the kids must've been dancing on the keyboard or something. Thanks, Bob.

I don't know about the second question.  I don't use IE anymore. As to adobe, IE is actually using adobe to open the pages, using it as a plugin.  Me? I hate adobe, a lot.  I uninstalled it and installed a program called Foxit reader.  It is fast and light and always opens pdfs in a separate window.  For 99.9% of pdfs, it renders them perfectly and in about 1 second instead of 8-15 on my computer.

Bob,

Not a geek, I just work on computers and have to make sure that a couple hundred little 19 year old girls can use them in class without problems. This sometimes means fixing 10 problems in a class period in Japanese, not in English.

There must be some place to set both of those, but I'm not sure. I just usually do it by playing around with the "options" or "settings" in a program.

What you can do with a .pdf instead of left-clicking it, which will cause it to open in the browser, is right click it and choose "Save as". Just save it somewhere and then you can go back and open it when you want to. If you open it from a folder or your desktop instead of from the browser, I'm sure that Acrobat will open it, not Internet Explorer.

As for the size settings, you can usually adjust them in "view", but it may just be that your son has dragged (drug) the corners, making the browser an odd size or proportion. You may just need to drag it back to a size that you like. You can also adjust the text size in "view".

Hope this helps,

Dave
