Newbie glad to find some testosterone on this site!
Hi guys,
My name is Bill (a.k.a. Maj. Lee FUBAR). I'm 37 and 375 lbs. I'm married with a step-daughter (14). I am an attorney living in Traverse City, Michigan. I am in the process of getting insurance approval for the lap RNY surgery. I have seen the shrink and the nutritionist, and I'm scheduled to get a stress test and a chest X-ray. Once all that is done they will tell me whether I need to do a mini-consult with my surgeon (I had one with him about 2 years ago and then got cold feet). This time, I am committed to getting this done, and now that I'm committed, I'd like it done asap!
Anyway, I was grateful to find a place where the boys hang out, so I don't have to read about how the WLS will affect my period, and all the"nurturing" that goes on in the main board. I'm looking forward to checking in and seeing what I can learn from everyone else's experiences, and eventually helping others once I get my WLS done. Thanks guys,
Bill
Hey Bill,
Welcome to the Locker room......I did the same thing as you...had a consult...in my case I did all my preop testing and canceled my RNY after it was scheduled...and tried again on my own. I went back to the surgeon almost 80 lbs heavier.....and had the DS. It was life changing.. ...and still is.......just buckle up and hanging on for the ride.
As for the main forum...too much estrogen for me.......I usually hang out here or on the DS forum (there's a lot of estrogen there too...but the women aren't in a constant state of PMSing)

Hey Bill, Welcome to the Men’s Board. Ain’t it a Biotch? Hurry and rush through all the approval ‘hoops,’ And then?…..?…."Come-On, Let’s Do This!" Most everyone has that same feeling. Once you make the commitment to doing it It feels like time to "Get It Done!" There is a distinct lack of "The Easily Offended" here. And when someone asks- "Do these pants make my Azz look Big?" They are actually kidding…. Throw out any questions or ideas and there are more than likely Some others here with a story to swap. Hope you find all of the info, Experience and support this bunch has to offer. Best Wishes- Dx
Welcome aboard! It's great to have a men's forum because we have unique issues just as the ladies do. As far as getting cold feet goes... (true story) I was in my holding room with an IV in waiting to go under the knife an hour later and had strong thoughts of pulling the IV and leaving. Just walking out... and I almost gave in to those thoughts... came real close, but then I got a hold of myself and I realized that I may not be given a second chance if I did something that radical. I was super-scared though.
I think most of us have that feeling. Mine was I am clostrophobic, due to being in a collapsed tunnel in Viet Nam for about 6 hours. It comes and goes. My problem was going from the 5th floor holding (Pre-surgery) to the waiting room (4th floor) for the surgery. They wouldn't give me anything due to the surgery so I had to ride the elevator one floor without anything. Outside the elevator door, I too almost jumped up and pulled the iv. Like you, I didn't think I would get a second chance.
2- weeks out yesterday and I'm glad I didn't jump up!
