OT - Who are your teams?
Cabin got me thinking...So I thought this might be fun who are your favorite teams? Favorite Memories?
Baseball
AZ Diamondbacks (2001 World Series - Game 7 Luis Gonzalez drives home the winning run off Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the 9th with a bloop single over the head of a drawn-in Derek Jeter to defeat "the Evil Empire" and bring home Phoenix's first major sports championship
NY Mets (Game 6 1986 - 'nuff said)
Chicago Cubs (heck of a run a few years back - F.U. Steve Bartman)
NFL
NY Jets (All the memories of their 1980's nose-tackle Joe Klecko with his face all bloodied every game.)
AZ Cardinals (Hard to find one here, but they did make it to the playoffs and knock off the cowboys once around 97 or 98)
College Football - Arizona State Sun Devils (96 Rose Bowl - Jake the Snake and the boys were 18 seconds away from a national championship - damn David Boston and Ohio State)
College Basketball - North Carolina Tar Heels (Every time they have beaten Duke)
NBA - Phoenix Suns (Game 3 against San Antonio this year "the comeback" before Amare had his brain-fart leaving the bench in Game 4 - may have cost them the title)
NY Knicks (Finally getting past the Bulls in the 90's - how many times did Charles Smith get fouled under the basket in the closing seconds of Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Semis in '93)
Hockey - Carolina Hurricanes (2006 Stanley Cup run)
Golf - Lefty (Finally winning the Masters)
Growing up in Pittsburgh during the 1970's was a sports fan's dream. I think we won the World Series, the Superbowl and the Stanley Cup within 12 months of each other one year.
4 Superbowl victories, A world Series Championship and 2 Stanley Cups within a 5 year period.
I saw Roberto Clemente get his 3000th hit.
I was a valet parking attendant in high school for Allegheny Country Club and parked the cars for, and met, most of my sports heroes, as both the Steelers and Pirates held team events there.
Lately, I was fortunate to be at the AFC Championship game two years ago in Denver, where my Steelers put a beating on the Broncos and went on to win the Superbowl. I will admit though, it might have been the worst Superbowl in history. But, A Steeler win is a Steeler win!
Now that I have been in Austin for a long time, I have kind of switched from a Penn State fan to UT, but I will die a Steeler fan. You can have my Terrible Towel when you pry it from my cold dead fingers!

Fatman one of those Pittsburg rings were stolen from Oakland I'll have you know.
I like both Oakland and San Francisco's baseball and football teams. All now stink to high heaven. The same with the Sacramento Kings. The one team I really follow is The University of California...Cal Golden Bears. With baseball, the one year of the strike when there was no World Series MLS broke my heart. They never really got me back as a fan. I will enjoy watching some of a game on TV, but if anything comes up the game becomes low priority. It was like an old girlfriend leaving you. So I now follow baseball from a distance. Brian
"Fatman one of those Pittsburg rings were stolen from Oakland I'll have you know."
I'll give you that one. At least went on to beat the Vikings. Oakland had the second best team in the league a few of those years.
I really felt sorry for Houston, though. They definitely had the second best team in the NFL for quite a few years, but unfortunately for them they were in the same division as Pittsburgh.
Alright - ready to laugh....
Houston Texans - 10 and 4 this year!
Houston Oilers - when here
Houston Astros - saw Greg B. hit his grand slam last week and retire
Houston Rockets - watching the NBA Championships
Houston Comets - went to school with Sheryl Swoopes
Houston Dynamo - trying to get behind the home team - even though I HATE soccer
Texas Tech University - ALL SPORTS
And to start the fire - I am ANTI COWBOYS!!! True Texan!!!
Have a great week.
