Glad I found this forum!
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to say how glad I am that there is a men's forum here! I enjoy reading the main forum, but it seems like there was a lot of stuff there that didn't pertain to me.
Anyways, I just thought I'd drop a quick note and introduce myself. I'm Doug, 29, from Indiana. I am having my RNY on August 22nd. My wife just had her RNY on July 18th. We're very glad to be doing this together! I've been on a pre-op diet, mainly liquid, for about 6 weeks now. I've also recently started doing some treadmill work, and I've lost 40 lbs! I can't wait for the surgery to see how quickly I lose it then.
Do any of you guys use Spark People (www.sparkpeople.com)? I just found it yesterday, and it's great! It's kind of like Fitday, but has a much more "Web 2.0" interface. You can track you nutrition and work out regimen, set goals for yourself, etc. If you haven't tried it, you should check it out.
Well, I'm sure I'll be posting more, so it's good to be a part of the group!
Hi drgonzo,
I also just found this forum today. I had RNY on 11 July and can't believe that 2+ weeks have already passed. I lost 28 lbs in the first 11 days, but I believe that it is mostly water - I can see my ankle and shin bones for the first time in years. Woohoo. I am looking forward to getting under 300 (in a few months) so I can weigh myself on a household scale.
