5k baby!
Well I had been walking about 2 miles every other day on the treadmill.
Yesterday I just kept walking and made my first complete 5k cycle on the treadmill.
Now I'm on my way to get some inserts for my shoes. I found that the difference between 2 miles and 5k was about 3 blisters on the bottom of my fat feet.

The first time you do something - It's going to be a personal record!
Oh stop it.......you are making me misty.
Welcome to the new distance.
Get some new shoes and enjoy the party, and keep moving forward. Your abilities are just beginning to be realized young grasshopper.
I reffer you to Headparrot's prfile and how his treadmill experinces got him to running events and amazing new heights. The there is Scott and AJ. Just amazing and motivational stuff.
You are doing killer dude.
Joe
Congratulations on the first 5K. As someone who used to get winded walking up a flight of stairs pre-op, I remember how amazed I was the first time I was able to complete 5K of walking on a treadmill. Just keep at it and you'll be surprised how quickly you'll be able to get your stamina built up. I am now running 4 miles a day at least 4 or 5 times a week.
Keep up the good work.
(And I am simply awestruck at what A.J. is doing....he's knocking it out of the park. I don't feel right being even mentioned in the same breath as him...but I appreciate the compliment Joe. And I also want to mention Scott Williams, who was my inspiration to start running.)
Scott,
Yep, getting some good shoes is key.
I got up to the point of actually entering a 5K race last summer.
Keep it Up!
I slacked off completely after my PS and had a devil of a time
Get some forward momentum back.
Just this last month or two have had great improvements.
I'm back to running a few miles every 3 days or so again.
Best Wishes-
Dx
