Hey guys, I was wondering, I will be 12 weeks post op this next Tuesday. I have my 3 month follow up with my surgeon on Aug 3rd. However, I found out today that I am to travel to the Philippines with my job from Aug 31st till Oct 1st....Exciting I know but I was wondering, what would you recommend for food? My surgeon said its fine to travel at this point just to be safe of what I put into my stomach. I see my PCP tomorrow and I see the CDC clinic Friday for all my shots....What do you guys think? I think its going to be awesome to go. I have only been to the UK before and that was only a week. I am 24 and never really travelled and working for one of the larger banks here in the USA I think it can be a bonus to my career as I will be doing a job fair and hiring our new site people...(Thats why I left the banks name out...haha).....What do ya think about the food there????

Jim took an extended tour of Southeast Asia a while back and should be able to give you some pointers. I would pack a large amount of my favorite protein bars and shakes, as back up. Dave, in Japan, might be able to provide some insight as well. BTW, Hatin; you already. Have a great trip. I have my Mortgage License and Real Estate Broker License, but no big bank experience. Think you guys could use me in the Philippines? Take care. JP

Your heading to a region where fish and chicken are available almost anywhere. Lots of interesting veggies too. You can find soy protein in many forms. Its easy to keep your rice consumption down if you stick to veggies and tofu. I travel with vitamins and protein power and bars. I usally take a full box of bars, but slit them up among my many bags so one is always in reach. They back light and hold me over when I am in a location where better food choices are not an option. I take a variety of crystal light single drink mixes as well.

I travel to SE Asia frequently and did so only 7 weeks after my surgery.  I had no problems whatsoever. There is plenty of protein-packed seafood available to eat.  Also, most hotels have low fat cottage cheese with fruit.  Chicken and beef satay were excellent.  You can also get 1% low fat milk and cereal. It would be a good idea to take some protein bars with you just in case you are out of the hotel area and need a snack.  You should also carry a water bottle with you as well. I will actually be in SE Asia during the last week of Sept and the whole month of October.  But, unfortunately, I will not be in the Manila. Don't worry.  You will do fine.
