surgery set for thurs morning, a little freaked out.
I am anxious, though truthfully I am worried about going under the knife. I have never been in a hospital overnight and have never been under anesthesia.
I am 31 and in good health except for the extra weight, I have an amazing 4 year old son, a beautiful wife and a baby on the way.
I need this surgery so I can be there for them for years to come, but am worried about not making it through the surgery.
A few prayers from you guys if you could, I gotta make it through.
We'll be praying for you. They really have perfected weight loss surgery. It is almost like getting your gall bladder out now. Yes, still surgery and there can be complications, but those are very slim and minor.
I woke my wife up in the middle of the night, the night before surgery. I said "am I doing the right thing"? She reassured me and talked about how we had thought it through and yes, it was the right call. We have all been there. You should do fine. Ask questions, walk, and sip sip sip. Later, Brian
You'll be in our thoughts and prayers on Thursday. My wife and I both had surgery 11 days apart in April 2006. While we were still home recuperating, we had a period where we wondered what we had done to ourselves. whether we had done the right thing. Then a show came on television where this lady never left her bedroom because of her weight. My wife and I looked at each other and at the same time said, "we did the right thing". Now, 15 months later, both being at goal and being called "skinny", we know it was the right decision. I totally agree with Brian, it is a surgery and there are risks, but the benefits outweigh the risks. Wishing you the best for a safe, and successful surgery. Good luck and keep in touch.

Been there. By now you have done the research and you have chosen a surgeon that you trust and probably like me you came to a low point in your life or something happened that made you decided to have surgery. If all of these are true then you have made an informed decision. It seems to me that one of the biggest complications now is blood clots. So like everyone else has said get up and moving as soon as you can. This will help reduce that risk. Good luck with tomorrow. pan head
TRR,
I did a bit of serious praying before my surgery and got a wonderful peaceful comfort that assured me whatever happened would be what was best. Making the choice to take action to get better was the part I was suppose to decide. You are doing that.
I will be glad to pray with you too. It will all be over very soon and in no time you will be amazed at the improvement in your quality of life.
You are doing the right thing.
Remember to take the time to heal afterwards and not try to be superman and get back in the loop too fast and hurt yourself.

It is normal. I had the support of my wife, prayer life and took comfort in my decision made in less stressful times before surgery that what I was doing was the right thing for me. Two days to go for you, rest in your decision and don't second or third guess your decision. You went through a long process to get to this point and there were checks and balances along the way. Have a great surgery and new life!
