July 50 Mile Challenge
Howdy Gents!
Lo and behold we're halfway through the month and it's time for another checkin. Let's check the numbers, shall we? Miles completed June: 105 Miles completed through July 15: 68 (28 bicycling) Percent of month completed: 48% Percent towards 50 mile goal completed: 136% Percent towards personal 100 mile goal completed: 68% Still incorporating the boxing classes into the cardio and weight lifting. Having a ball being able to push myself further each week. Hope you are doing well and would love to hear how you're progressing towards your goals this month. Stronger Everyday. -Dan
Well Dan,
I am at 40.8 miles running this month and that is without any long runs. Mostly maintenance stuff. That puts me on a good pace because I don't want to increase the milage too much to avoid injury. They say 10% a month is good to increase. I guess that if last month was 75 this month could be 83 and that is about where I am headed.
I have also stated hitting the weights again. I was slacking there for a while thinking that the running was doing enough. More muscle burns more calories. Anyway, see you in two weeks.
Scott
Dan,
Thanks for the post. My mileage isn't where I want it to be but I have registerd for a 10K in Oct and another in Nov to help me keep my focus and not backslide from where I've progressed.
All the guys that post their training regimes, goals, and accomplishments, I enjoy reading and you all inspire me to keep getting after it.
I missed the first week of the July building a handicap ramp and porch for my mom but as of the second week of July, I got back on the road with 21 miles and went 3 miles one day jogging before needing to walk a ways. A new first for me. My goal is to jog the entire 10K and finish in 70 minutes or less Oct 13, American Family 10K in Richmond VA (www.kalerunning.com). Then the Suntrust 8K in Nov also in Richmond VA;.....not ready for the 26 mi main event marathon.
Thanks again,
Joe
Alright Fellas -
Once again, no mileage goals for me during the Tri season...
Just getting the required work in to prepare for each race.
Here are my numbers
Miles Last Month (June): 295
Miles July 1 - July 15: 182 miles
140 Bike / 28 Run / 6 Swim / 8 Elliptical
Just started my taper week to rest up for the NJ State Olympic Triathlon coming up on Sunday morning. Swimming every day and just lifting some light weights, an easy jog or two, and a short bike ride here and there to get ready.
I'm now down to 183lbs ( 6' 1" )
This is the lightest I can ever remember being and I can actually feel myself getting stronger & faster every day...
Okay, I'm out... I'll be posting my full race report early next week.
See Ya At The Finish Line.
Be Well,
A.J.
