Home from hospital...

I was supposed to come home on Thursday, July 12th but because I had kidney stones 30 years ago they decided to have me see a nefrologist and he had me do a catscan to check for any stones. Found none and I came home on Friday the 13th. Things are going OK. I hate taking my crushed pills (all 15 of them), the taste is disgusting. Meals are fine since I am not really hungry. I do find myself mentally thinking of foods I see on TV, but I'm not really hungry. Woke up around midnight with my incision screeming at me. Took my percocet and proped myself up in the courner of my futon. Kept waking up with my neck killing me. I'll try using the recliner tonight.  GMOxley

Congrats on making it through, hope the recliner makes for a better night's sleep. My dad had hip surgery years ago and had to sleep in the recliner and hasn't used the bed since.

Glad you're home. I think the recliner is a good idea. I spent the first 10 or 12 days after my surgery sleeping in my recliner. I was tired enough that it wasn't too bad, even though I woke up a few times a night--and took the opportunity to make a couple of loops around the living room (a good way to help the recovery process).

Congratulations and welcome to the losing side.  The first few days were a bit uncomfortable but every day got better and better.  As it's been said here many times, just remember, walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip. Wishing you continued good luck, Brian

G, Glad to hear you’re home… Hang in there, These first couple of weeks suk for most everyone. Thoughts about food even when not hungry can be a bear. Rest all you can, walk a bit every 2 to 4 hours, keep an eye on you temp and make sure the incision site isn’t getting red or irritated, keep sipping water and soon you’ll be up and hitting on all cylinders! Best Wishes- Dx

G -  WAY TO GO!!!!  Congrats at being home.  Glad to hear about the sucess.  I can tell you the crushed pills SUCK.  I hade to do them for the first 2 weeks, now I can cut them.  Not nearly as bad.  I got lucky and I was able to sleep in my bed the first night.  I made a mound of pillows to form a wedge.  I got lucky. I had a huge mental issue with the TV commercials.  I thought many times 'what the hell did I do to myself'.  Then I thought - eating that way made me the way I am.  It takes time.  Like everyone said - sip, sip, sip and walk, walk, walk. Keep us posted... Sean
