I just got back from my "mancation" with all my buddies in Montana.  I had been running and getting in shape and I decided to pu**** while hiking in Glacier National Park.  My friend and I hiked 18 miles with elevation change of 5,000 feet!!!   I had plenty of energy, but my knee gave out about half through the hike.  I have never had knee problems and basically I couldn’t raise or lower my knee without intense pain.  It didn’t hurt to put weight on it; just the outside of my right leg (parallel to the knee) is where the pain was.  My guess is that the tendons or ligaments became inflamed from being too loose after my weight loss.  It doesn’t hurt unless I go up and down stairs. Anyway, the great part was the trip out and back.  On the plane I was able to sit comfortably in my seat AND out down my tray to set my drink on!!!  How cool is that?? And, I went to a cookout where they had those plastic long chairs and I was able to sit in those without the fear of breaking one.

I dunno Matt,...all that runnig and then the leg goes out a measley hike when all those chairs and fishing and drinks are available??? If you didn't have a picture,...I'd say it sounds like that fish story that got away? Sounds like you suffered through just a horrible experince. I'm glad you made it back in time to recover and all.  And finding true happiness posting these trying times on the internet with your real cyber friends. Montana,eh?  In July,eh? I'm surprised you came back at all. You could have claimed you couldn't be moved for 4-8 weeks till the leg recovered.

SInce you brought it up....I did have a burger and a beer AFTER the hike.  I figured after 18 miles I deserved a little indulgence.  Well, the combination of being dehydrated, the carbs in the bun and fries, and half a beer (the first drink I have had since before surgery) I passed out in the car for about an hour on the way home.  I felt like I had been chugging nyquil or something.

I think WLS in your 30's is a fountain of youth.  I'm amazed how similar I look to my high school graduation pictures.  Then again, I gained most of my weight in my 20's.  Not bad for a dad with 4 kids in my case! --Dave

Matt, 32? I also thought- "This kid can’t legally drink yet!" Congratulations on your fun trip… I had similar knee issues my first year that used to bother me when going up hills and stairs… It went away, and so far (for the last 3 years) hasn’t made a comeback. Keep up The Great Work! Best Wishes- Dx
