Tony,

The cravings are normal. Try hard to eat right, but there's no guarantee that you will be able to long term, so drink lots of water, get your protein and exercise every day.

As far as I can tell, no veteran men who are exercising regularly is gaining weight in spite of heavy eating.

You defininitely want to lose weight now during your first year, so you may need to pretend as if you haven't had surgery and eat in a way that would have made you lose weight pre-op.

What I used to do, when I was still trying to lose, was only drink protein shakes while I was at work. Then, at home as a single evening meal, after another protein shake, eat salad and veggies. I never had a single plateu with this diet - Of course, I was exercising 10 hours a week on top of it.
