embarrasing dumping episode

I dump if I have too fatty of a meal instead of sweets.  I had some friends up to Wisconsin this weekend.  Real good friends who had not seen in a while.  I got ****y at dinner time and ate a fried fish dinner with potato wedges dipped in some type of creamy dip with tartar sauce and really fatty cole slaw.  I did not eat that much of it, but felt like I was going to die.   I had to sit in the car while my friends watched the local waterski show and then I was so ill I could hardly walk into the cottage when we returned.   Straight to bed for about an hour,  non-stop sweating, and cramps.   I am making this public to remind myself not to do it again.  I also want to remind all of my OH friends not to go crazy with the food just because your old buddies are in town.   My friends had not seen me in a long time and I think they were pretty alarmed by seeing me that sick.  I felt like an idiot.

Scott, Yep, it’s not just sugar that gets folks. That fat content coupled with White starch of potatoes Can take ya down! That’s a "Treat" you’ll be passing on in the future I bet….. Live (and Dump) And Learn..... Best Wishes- Dx

Popeyes fried chicken and cajun fried rice did me in, last week. I can't say I didn't know better, but I just had to try it. The results: sweating, cramps, and exploding diarrhea.  Another lesson re-learned the hard way. DD

I found that I can eat just about anything in small amounts  I wish I would dump on things with sweets, fat etc but that is not the case so I need to be careful!! I guess I came closest to dumping at the BBQ contest when I ate ONE rounded table spoon full of ice cream, that did indeed stop me from eating any more. I do eat very slowly, over an hour for a half sandwich or an hour or more for an apple. One bite in 10 minutes but I chew it slowly, bit by bit and make it last the full 10 minutes. For example, right now I am working on breakfast. 1/4 cup dry oatmeal with about 1 to 2 oz of beef/pork sausage I made (low fat of course!) it has been 45 minutes and I am only 1/3 of the way through it. Using Fit Day, I figure I am at about 1200 to 1800 cal per day with 60 to 80 grams of protein. Fat and carbs are about the same in grams.

Ah HA!  So you are mortal! Besides having a similar expeience with poptarts 2 months ago, I did a 5 hour energy drink last week while working on my 4th of July deck building project for my mom.  Thought I was going to die.  I survived the immediate rush from the niacin but about 1 hour later while out in the heat, I got light-headed and weak-kneed and it took about an hour before I got back to functioning again.  Very impressive to my friend and brother-in-law that were helping.  Felt like the IDIOT I am!!!   Won't be doing that again. Thanks for sharing.  Its good to know we can survive pushing the envelope occassionally.   A mans gotta know his limitations. - Clint Eastwood (Dirty Harry)

Glad to hear folks talking about dumping later in the process. I'm only 3 months out and have not dumped yet.  I've been avoiding sugar like it's Plutonium!  The worst I've done is 3 chicken nuggets from Wendy's in a pinch when I'd gone 6 hrs without eating and was getting light headed.  I've watched as my family devoured two ice cream pies over the 4th of July, and pass on the sweet fruits for fear of dumping (though I've heard that you don't dump on fresh fruits). I'm sure someday I'll try something I shouldn't and have that nasty "episode", but for now, it's a no go for me!
