Beth, My wife and I both had RNY in March of this year, and it has been positive for both of us to be each other's support.  We are also on the same page when it comes to regular diet and we've save lots of $$ we used to spend on food.

As for being apprehensive about surgery, it took over 2 years of research and consideration, as well as getting  a job at an employer who covered the surgery before I seriously considered it.  That said, my life has changed for the better, and I've even had some opportunities open up at work since my surgery (time off didn't hurt me there!)  I can't say that it's all because of my surgery, but a more positive/healthier lifestyle has spilled into benefits in other areas of my life. As for our intimate relationship, my wife and I have lost over 160 lbs combined.  Needless to say, we're having more fun than we were a few months ago. Check out Dx's links, the comments there really summarize many of the positives from a male perspective. -Dave

I agree with everyone here. He needs to look for himself. Speaking for myself, i needed no encouragement from the Mrs. about having RNY done. A LOT of it had to do with the competence of the surgeon, too. He set me at ease very quickly.  As far as the nookie thing... Tell him I said not only is there more membership in his club but the members stay longer, they stay interested longer and the time it takes them to return for another visit is much quicker.

Hi - just to clarify - my husband is fine with doing research himself he's just not a message board sort of guy and there are things to be said for info you can get on a message board (obviously why I am here).  I do appreciate all the help and input.  Maybe at some point he will come here himself but I've never seen him on any kind of message board - ever.  He just has to get the "bug" yet I think.  He knows where to find it if he changes his mind!!  I just really wanted to know how the experience differed, if at all, for a guy vs. for me.  Thanks again!!!!!

I am a healthy BMI now and so I am happy.  I haven't decided yet where my comfort point is for maintaining.  I'm trying to lose more, but I may find out that causes me to have more restrictive daily diet and excercise habits than what I am comfortable with long-term.  It's all about choices!!!
