9 weeks post opt
Hey guys, this upcoming Tuesday I'll be 9 week post op (5/15) and was curious when does our risk subside for "complications" I was just wondering other than a stricture or dumping when do all the other risks seem to vanish.
Other than some random heart palpitations (maybe anxiety) and some fatigue I feel fine most of the time. I just get tired easily. I have lost 65 pds so far and am ALMOST at 300 pds. I maxed out at 5'9 and 365 pds. I am sitting at about 307 right now. I was just thinking about this as I was bored and on patrol with the police dept and we were talking about it.
On another note, my PCP has decided to test me for Leukimia which I had my bone marrow test on this past Tuesday (my 8 week mark of all days) and am just waiting for the results. My PCP also has sent me to a cardiologist to figure out the heart issue where it just speeds up at random maxing at usually 140 bps and than going back to normal. Have any of you experienced this at all?
Thanks every
Leukemia? Hope you get cleared there! The heart rate palpitations? Is this something you had pre-op? They "Could" be related to "late-stage dumping." Usually after eating something with a high carb content, the blood sugar level spikes and then crashes from too much insulin. This also is usually accompanied with clammy sweats and feeling very weak and shaky. My very first suggestion is "Ask your doc," but it sounds like you’re already all on top of that. Hope you’re feeling fine soon… Best Wishes- Dx
Hey thanks. Yea my PCP is trying to figure things out. The leukemia is probably nothing. The oncologist said he doesn't think I have it based on what he has seen but the blood work still suggests it so we are just awaiting the test results....Considering I had it July 3rd IM sure the holiday will slow things down...haha....
As for the heart palpitations, I never had them before surgery. We thought it was dumping but the one time it happend at 4am and I had not eatten anything since like 11pm. Then they thought it was hypoglycemia, but each time my sugar hovers around 85-100 so they ruled that out. Now they think its PAT (Proximial Atrial Tachyacardia) where my sinus node gets out of wack but that would be nothing serious. That is controlled with a pill. I have an ECHO scheduled for later today so we will see.
Other than feeling tired a lot easier prior to surgery I am slowly starting to feel fine. Maybe its anxiety? Who knows....haha....I figured losing 65pds would make things go away. I wonder if it is the initial shock of losing the weight so fast that confuses the body? Anyone else had this problem around 9 weeks post opt
