Hey! FARTONE: I went to the GAP the other day and well....From now on I say F_CK YOU to the X in front of my clothing size.......Im now a LARGE! sighhhhhhh felt great!!! I use to be a XXXL =( FARTTWO: When doing cardio I do intervals....ie. do a quarter mile at 4.0 then run at 7.3 for a quarter mile....the other day I had micheal jackson beat it on the ipod and RAN for a full half mile!!! Felt so crazy as i wanted to die but felt great afterwords and was glad to see my growth! Soon dare I say.........MILE? 5K? MUAHAHAHAHAH lol? How do you manage to get in enough protein to build muscle??? ie. I have started lifting weights and trying to bulkup/get shape.....and like everything i read says i should be getting at least 200 grams of protein for my weight (ie. im 220 now)  I usally manage to get in about 100ish through the help of protein shakes and chicken while managing to fit in some veggies and at least 96-gallon of water a day. those calories are like 1000-1200 daily... i can def get in more protein but im worried about the added calories! Your thoughts? I also noticed my weight has been about the same for a little over 2weeks ish.  I did start taking creatine and stuff and i do see a little bit of muscle growth but still shouldnt  I be loosing? I weightlift 3days and cardio 3 days! Yout thoughts and advice would be great! thank you in advance! bobby

bobby, Sounds like you're doing Great!  Keep it Up! For the protein? A couple of ideas to get your protein in with your water... Some folks swear by "Profect" protein shots- Another thought... (sorry to copy paste fro an old post of mine, but it saves so much typing...) ____________________________

Need to get in your Protein But may have some difficulty early on with consuming enough? I had great success with- Zero Carb Isopure. Comes in 20 oz Glass bottles, Calories - 190, Carbohydrate - 0 g, Protein - 40 g It comes in a number of flavors- Passion Fruit, Apple Melon, Grape, Blue Raspberry, Fruit Punch, Orange, Pineapple Orange Banana, And Mango Peach. On the Down Side- All of them have an after taste that is a little like Sucking on Old Pennies. My first thought when tasting it for the first time- "Who peed in this?!?" The Upside? Cut it half and half with some Crystal-Lite And the flavor is hidden completely. Don’t try to get it all down at once either, Just have a little, 4 to 5 times a day. You get in more "water" this way and Since your system only processes about 30 gms of Protein at once anyway, Slowly "trickling" it into your system insures you Get the maximum benefit from the protein. If you’ve got a GNC store nearby, Stop in and buy a few. It is cheaper to shop around on the net And order a case, but only after you know that you will use it. I found the Orange, mixed with Crystal-Lite Lemonade Was great and so was the Mango Peach Mixed with Crystal-Lite’s Peach Tea. Just thought I’d share

What worked well for me. (your mileage may vary)

Best Wishes- Dx

Im weak its true, the first step is admitting the problem....But really thats old Micheal Jackson stuff is great for running! "...............You better run, you better do what you can Don't wanna see no blood, don't be a macho man You wanna be tough, better do what you can So beat it, but you wanna be bad Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it No one wants to be defeated Showin' how funky and strong is your fight It doesn't matter who's wrong or right Just beat it, beat it Just beat it, beat it Just beat it, beat it Just beat it, beat it..........."

I think steak is great for gaining muscle mass if you are few months out and been able to handle it.  Also if you can find a protein mix that mixes well with milk (two birds with one stone).  With that you get protein and liquids at the same time...Brian

I know the use of protein bullets and stuff I can get the protein in but do you think the calories of getting all the protein in would be a bad thing? To get in about 200grams of protein would def be over 1200calories, thas what im worried about =(

hey bobby,

creatine will give you water volumization no****er retention. so expect about 2 to 7 pounds of weight gain from creatine. you're muscles will look bigger though and not smooth like from water only.

as for the protien, i just take whey protien to make up the difference. yep, there's calories involved but you can't have it all! the way you're working out i wouldn't worry about the extra calories. i burn off my shakes like nothing. i have one in the morning and another after lifting and then try to get the rest from regular food. at 200 grams you might need a third shake during the day. good luck....carbonblob

Wow, I hope you meant 96 oz of water and not 96 gallons....   That is a lot of water! You should check with your nutritionist, because depending on the intensity of your workouts 1200 calories is probably not enough.  I do 3000-3500 calories a day.   I do more cardio (15 miles running, 100 miles cycling, and hot yoga) than weights (only twice a week).    I get in about 120-130 grams of protein per day, and even almost four years out I still have to work at maintaining my current weight.    Not sure if the creatine could be interfering with the weight loss or not but someone on here should have some insight.  Good luck and get out there and try a 5k soon.  Once you get one under your belt they become addictive. First, congrats on the progress. I doubt you really need 200g protein; 100 is probably fine.  According to a number of sources (for example, this one) most people need 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight. So for you, that would be 80 grams.  Exercising increases your needs somewhat (endurance training more so than strength training), to maybe 1.0-1.2 g/kg, some say as high as 1.5g/kg at the highest.  I've seen body building articles and message boards say 2g/kg, but I've never seen anyone provide scientific backing. Now, fat doesn't increase your protein needs, so if you are 16-21% body fat at 220, then use your whole weight, otherwise, you should figure on something closer to your ideal weight.  Assuming we can use all 220 and assuming 1.2 g/kg, that's still only 120 grams. I personally set a minimum of 100 grams a day, with a goal of about 115 and a max of 160.  At my current intake (1300 calories or so), I couldn't do that without at least one shake a day, usually two. As for not losing weight, my experience is that just happens some weeks after the first 8-10 weeks of any diet (even those where I've been very disciplined, and even with my current surgery).  But the creatine could explain it partly, as it will increase your water weight.
