Help! I need breakfast ideas!

I'm three months post-op and have transitioned off of the soft-foods only diet, to now include just about everything I was allowed to eat before surgery, just in smaller amounts, and always no more then 5 g of sugar or fat. I have been eating the same things for breakfast just about everyday. I usually start with a cup of coffee and then thirty minutes to an hour later I eat one of the folowing three breakfasts: 1) A packet of instant oatmeal with one packet of Splenda sweetner, one squirt of SF maple syrup, a  splash of milk, and a scoop of Any-Whey unflavored protein powder (17g of protein) I add enough water to make it "mushy" stir and then nuke it for 30 seconds and stir it again. 2) One egg, usually scrambled, prepared in a skillet using non-stick spray instead of butter or shortening, with some low-carb ketchup on the side, sometimes some  low-fat cheese, and a piece of whole weat toast with a little bit of light margarine. 3) A small bowl of Weigh****chers Fiber N' Flakes cereal and a little bit of skim milk. I need some more ideas! What are you guys eating for breakfast everyday? What are your Go-To options?

My breakfast favorites:

1) 1 slice of good, nutty, dense whole-wheat toast with a sliced hard boiled egg on it salt and peppered. Small bowl of cooked spinach with vinegar on the side. I usually make it about 2/3 the way through and feed the rest to the kids.

2) 1/2 cup plain Fat Free Yoghurt. 2 scoops unflavored Unjury powder (40g protein). 1 TB splenda. 1/4 cup milk. 1 packet single serve Crystal Light (lemon is nice in the morning). Blend it all up in a small mason jar and sip on it for a bit.

I haven't tried it yet, and it wouldn't be breakfast, but I think #2 would be good made as ice cream.

I like to eat cottage cheese in the morning....1/2 a cup as 12-13 grams of protein....i normally eat a cup sprinkled with dry cereal, or some fruit.   If I'm in a big rush, I'll usually take my suppliments, and eat some trail mix (I make my own mostly nuts and seeds in the car as I'm going some place) Scott

Hey Mike! Congrats on a great journey so far!  I am a meat guy, so I love me some Canadian bacon in the morning.  It is lean, low-carb, and high in protein.  I will cut up three or four slices into little squares and mix it in with a little Egg Beaters.  Usually have it with a little yogurt (Carb Control is my favorite) and ta-da! a great breakfast. According to fit day, I am consuming about 210 calories, 3.5 grams of fat, 8 grams of carbs, and 22 grams of protein.  Not too shabby, eh? See ya! Bob

Mike I think you may need to get in your protein first.  Throw out all the old ideas of breakfast.  New beginnings here.  Here are a few things I have had for breakfast over the last month:  Tuna salad, egg salad, peanut butter, lean lunchen meat wrapped with a piece of string cheese, cottage cheese, Wendi's Chili, steak, shrimp, a glass of milk mixed with my favorite whey protein, eggs, all types of nuts.  I just try and make sure I start the day with protein and vegetables just in case my day gets hetic and I get busy and can't eat right.  At least I have gotten in my protein to begin the day.  Just me...Brian

Fage Greek yogurt, with some Kashi Go lean or fruit and always a Slpenda packet. I cup (8 oz) is 180 calories, no fat, and 20 grams of protein. If you add a half cup of go Lean I think it adds another 9 grams of protein. 4 egg white and some diced ham and 2% Kraft singles cheese is good. This morning I made protein pancakes. Take 7 eggs whites, 1 whole egg, 1 cup of oatmeal, a little cinnamon, maple syrup extract, and a Splenda packet and zip it through the blender. Grill like regular pancakes and top with whatever you can find. Lowfat cottage cheese is good too. The one I eat is 180 calories, maybe 2-4 grams of fat, and 28 grams proetin for 1 cup.

I have the same thing almost every morning. First I put one table spoon of butter in pan and saute one table spoon of green peppers and onions, add one beaten egg lightly scramble. I then top with maybe a couple of table spoons of shredded cheddar cheese. Sometimes I may add some hot sauce or top with salsa.  pan head

One of the things that I use for a change of pace is French Toast.  Soak i slice of whole grain bread in one egg.  Let is sit long enough that the enitre egg is absorbed into the bread.  Fry in a non-stick skillet or on a non-stick griddle.  Add sugar free syrup or sugar free jam/jelly or just sprinke it with Sugar Twin. Another is to make a poached egg and put it on a slice of well toasted bread. Both give you the protein from the egg and a little variety Rich
