RnY after Colon Cancer
So I have heard conflicting information and I am wondering if anyone here has first hand experience.
I had surgery for Colon Cancer 2 years ago and I am in the process of trying to get my RnY done. I have had people tell me it should be ok and others say that they won't do it because of the previous surgery. I still have almost 2 months before my appointment with the Dr. at Kaiser or I would just ask him. All the other docs I have asked say well that's something you should discuss with the surgeon.
Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks

I had colon cancer twice, the last time being seven years ago. I had a RNY done on 2-2-07 and I'm now down 150 pounds. I was worried about having it done because of the complications with the surgeries for cancer and the mechanics of how to do the testing. My surgeon devised a way to make a stoma in the distal stomach so they cound check for polyps. Other than having a G-tube in my side for four and a half months there was nothing different than a normal RNY. I look at it that the RNY saved my life as much as the colonectomies did. For the first time in years I really feel alive.
