Reading Food Labels Help

Fellas,  When considering post op food labels, how much is too mu*****arbs, sugars, etc..  I know it depends on the person but some of these prepared and restaurant meals tout 'LOW FAT' but in calorie count it's like 45 grams of carbs!!!   Thanks for the help, Bob.

Hey Bob.... good question...I just taught a class on this... so let me see if I can help... Ok on the carb lable...take the total carbs...minus the fiber...that gives you the carb count....that is the number that you wanna know... Fuctose, xylatol, manitol, alchol sugars...it's all crap...a lot of people dump on more the 5-6 grams of crabs at one time....so that is a personal thing.. if you want to be in Ketosis...and lose fastest...stay below 20 grams of carbs a day...total...this will make you body burn fat instead of carbs.... net carbs is ****it is a marketing ploy...remember, OJ has as much carbs as Cola..... Bob, I try to say below 10g of sugar per day, and I can not tolerate anything with more than 4g of sugar per serving, without feeling sick or at least regretting it for several hours after.  I aim for 1200 calories per day, which is about 240 calories per meal at 5 meals a day. I also aim for at least 140 calories of protein per meal, which is about 35g, so I do not focus on the carb and fat levels beyond staying below the remaining 100 calories I have left in my meal limit in the 240/5 daily plan.   Needless to say I eat a lot of chicken, tuna, eggs, lunch meats and my carbs typically come from vegetables. My dining out standard meal is salmon, mahi-mahi, or other types of grilled fish with veggies, or a small NY cut steak. I have asked for a ham and cheese omelet for dinner as well, any restaurant can whip that up for a reasonable price.  Herb

Hey Herb,  You eat about what I like.  I love fish.  I'm excited about having my surgery if I can only git r done!
