I watched this video several times during the anxious weeks leading up to my surgery. As a pre-op, it really helped me understand the decision I made with the knowledge and perspective I gained from it - and I impressed the heck out of my surgeon at the pre-op meeting too! There are a lot of videos out there that you can find by googling "video gastric bypass" This particular one comes from the Duke Weight Loss Surgery Center, where I, and a few other guys from this board had our surgeries done. This one is a little bit dry, but I like it because it shows and explains some of the precautions that they take to ensure your safety, that helped put my mind at ease.  So pre-ops, or anyone for that matter, enjoy! And let me know what you think! http://secure.visualzen.com/duke/wlsc/understandingobesity/v ideo.aspx

Russ, I have never really been one to shy away from seeing a little blood on video, in person though is another story...I was actually amazed though at how little bleeding I actually saw in the surgery video, I guess I expected more.. I like the Big Medicine show, I really enjoy hearing about other people's experiences with WLS, what I don't like about it though is how people get so bent out of shape about things they see on there because they have devoloped some strong opinion about someone or a situation based on the tiny snapshot of the situation they see on the show....by the way I thought about it, and I am starting to wonder about plastic surgery - things are starting too droop, I'm getting a little alarmed  - I want to see the photo journey - hit me up at  [email protected]

Hey Micheal, I watched at least 6 different ones before my surgery lol. I wanted to know what exactly was gonna be going on in there. I was even hoping my surgeon could record mine...If you can get past the blood and stuff it is very interesting to see what they do. I watched a Live web cast once and sent in an email which they answered while I was watching...I thought that was prety cool. Take care man.

A couple of weeks before surgery (July 17) .  Not sure how I feel. . .  Once my stomach settles... just kidding.  Very interesting. Mike
