Weight loss surgery metaphor

I see losing weight being similar to climbing a mountain. It is possible to climb a mountain using nothing but your hands and feet (diet and exercise.) I've seen climbers scale vertical walls or rock without the aid of tools or ropes. This technique is known as free climbing. With WLS (I assume as a pre-op) its like having a rope to aid you ascent. You still have to climb, the distance to the top doesn't change, but you now have a "tool" to help make it easier. WLS also provides a rope to hold on to in case you lose your footing lessening the chances of free-falling. Maybe I'm thinking about this too much.

You will be assimilated, resistance is futile.
Great way to see it. Remember some have a hill and some like me have Mount St. Helens!!!!!
