My "No Sleep" Study

Man! I've been there! I was diagnosed with sleep apnea about 6 years ago. That test was horrible! But the CPAP is worse! I can't stand that thing. Thats why I am praying for a speedy approval. The sooner I'm approved, the sooner I can throw that crap in the trash! LOL!

You guy's can do what you want. But for me I'm glad I got the sleep study done. They came into my room after an hour and told me that I had stopped breathing 119 times in one hour. So they put the full face mask on me ( because I have busted my nose about 6 times and the right nostril is about closed) and adjusted the air pressure (it came out to be 13 psi). My heart doctor also told me that could have been part of the heart problem I have. So I wear a full face mask now. I barely notice it. I made my wife take the test too because she snored like a rhino. Low and behold she wares a nose mask now.....oh well maybe someday I won't have to ware it. The heart doctor say's don't count on it.  Dave

Totally agree with Dave as I was in the same boat as him. CPAP is a ***** but my mandatory sleep test uncovered sleep apnea. Once I started using the CPAP, I slept for a full 8 hours for the first time in 10 years or so. Once I started sleeping better, my energy level increased so I was able to do some basic exercise prior to WLS.  Oh by the way, in my sleep study, I stopped breathing 10 times or so. My wife had told me previously I would stop breathing and gasp for air when I would sleep but I ignored the symptoms. No surprise as I totally ignored all health related issues prior to WLS. Sleep apnea is a potential killer (especially to obese men) and is not to be taken lightly fellas. Boner

The first sleep study I had, 5 years ago, I thought...this is freaking crazy.  They fitted me with this cpap machine and I used it for like 2 hours over the next 5 years.  I slept maybe 30 minutes hooked up to those wires. I had to have another sleep study done for the surgeon of WLS and again, cpap - couldn't sleep worth SH#T, then they switched to Bipap with oxygen, and I woke up complaining I couldn't sleep with all those wires on looked at my watch - 7:30 A.M., I'd been asleep for 6 hours straight.  I took the machine home and it's logged about 400 hours so far.  I love this bipap machine, it breathes with me rather than continuous blowing on me.  However, the tech wrote in the report that all 8 hours was spent on my Left side, not my back of which I'm going to be during surgery and beyond. Oh yeah, P.S.  the only letter I'm waiting on now is the Pulmonary doctor to send the surgeon a letter telling them I'm actually using the Bipap machine, I offered to send a picture but......yeah that's what I thought too.
