I just don't understand why I do this sometimes. I was on a diet for 4 days in a row, I ate 5 small meals a day and was doing some 45 mins of cardio. Today I just woked up and threw everything out the window and went crazy eating. I hate it, why can't we just stick to a diet ??? Its so damn hard. I haven't had surgery yet, on Friday my doctor told me they mailed all of my paper work to the insurance company so im just waiting for an approval. But it just sucks thinking what if the insurances won't cover the surgery ?? Am I going to be trying to diet it and failing for the rest of my life ????

I can certainly relate to those feelings.  Every weight loss program I have tried, (Weigh****chers, LA Weight Loss, EDiets, etc.) I loose 20, 30, sometimes 40 pounds to only end up on a major plateau and no way to break it.  I eventually give up the program saying to myself, "I don't want to live the rest of my life stressed out because I cannot loose anymore weight.  I might was well live happy and fat then stressed all the time about what I am and should be eating." Of course that also leads to gaining back all the weight (plus more) and then going to the other side of knowing I have to loose weight or I am going to die early in life. I hope my insurance covers this and this is the "magic tool" that will get me past all those previous plateaus and onto a steady (yet gradual) weight loss to a healthy and active lifestyle. KRE

If you find the answer let me know! For me I am going through the approval process, and I still have four months to go. I am suppose to be dieting now, and to be honest I am not doing horribly, but I certainly am not keeping my calories as low as the dietician wants. My brain is my worst enemy at this point. It keeps telling me, eat and enjoy while you can, because these are the last months of that pleasure. Crazy, I know. :(

Hi guys, first off I pray you are able to get the approvals and I feel your pain.  I'm on  the other side now but remember all too well the "last hurrah's" of the food tour.  It is very normal.  If I can give you some advice.  As much as possible do the South Beach Diet for your dieting.  This is essentially what the post op diet is once you can start solid foods.  Funny thing.  All those foods you are eating that you know you shouldn't?  Post surgery they do not have anywhere near the allure they do now.  You are right where I was 9-10 months ago so I feel your pain. Hang in there....do the South Beach and make sure to get your protein in (80-100 grams a day which is about 12 oz of protein a day.  This will be the best for loss now and will prepare you well when you have surgery. Hope this helps.. Greg

I would have to agree with the earlier post about South Beach diet. If fits my diet plan 6.5 months out from surgery almost perfectly. As for a good protein shake, I prefer the Atkins Chocolate Royal. Available at Wal-MArt, Walgreen's etc. Very low in sugar, good protein to carb ratio. Get them very cold, seems to help the taste. Hang in there. Don't let the days; "Off the health wagon" get you down. If you only have one bad diet day, for every 5 good diet days, you will do fine. The trick is to not get frustrated and just chuck it. Much easier said than done, I know. JP
