Unfortunately, I blew my wad with the post subject and now I have nothing to put in the post.  I had a race today which was only a mile.  It was called the canon ball run and was started with an actual canon.   My quickest recorded mile was previously on a treadmill and was 7:12.  There were two hundred people in the race and I was 51st.  I thought that I was in trouble when I went through the first quarter at 1:25.  That is 5:40 pace but I held on for the 6:33 which pleased me a lot.  Next up for the big races is the Niantic Bay (CT) half marathon and the Hartford marathon in October.  Unfortunately, it is time to start gearing up for those.  Thanks for listning.  I am a little excited tonight. That is awesome...I hope I can get that fast someday when I get down to a healthy weight...I broke five minutes - for a quarter mile lap that is! I think my best mile so far has been about thirteen minutes on a treadmill...babysteps though right? That is down from a twenty-two minute mile when I started...seriously though, you're accomplishment is an inspiration for us guys that are still heavy and trying to transforms ourselves into Supermen like you and some of the other guys in here...

My first walk on the treadmill post-op was for 6 minutes at 3 mph.  So yeah, you will get there.   Thanks for the kind words. Scott

Scott, That is excellent.  No wonder you are one of my running idols.  Keep it up and you'll keep me motivated.  Won't be long and we'll be reading about you in the newspapers winning all these races.  Good luck getting ready for those marathons. Floyd

Not sure about winning any races but it is fun to achieve personal goals.  Even the fat guy divisons (clydesdale) 225+ have faster people.  I'll keep workin on it though.  Thanks a lot Scott

Thanks for the post.  You are still setting the standard for me. Post-op those first two weeks I was doing .5 in 15 mins. Then my first 10K in 1:38 in March.  Last Tuesday, I did 4 miles with warmup and cool-down in 55 mins so I'm guessing I was averaging 10 minutes a mile on the actual run.  And I'm up to jogging 2-2.5 miles at the beginning, walking a 1-.5 mile, then joggin the last mile.  Trying to get to where I can jog an entire 10K.  I'm prepping for a 10K Oct 13 and a 8K in Nov.   Keep up the inspiring example and keep those road warrior and other assorted experiences coming.  They are great reads! Joe
