Can I br done losing?
Could it be possible to stop losing after 10 months? Its been 6 weeks since I loss any weight. My PCP checked my measurments and said I am down to bones in alot of areas. I just have Skin in the tummy. I an hanging around 239 - 242. I tried just liguids. Went back to basics and everything. I am pleased with myself this far. But I feel there is still 10 or so more pounds left to get rid of. Any suggestions in how to lose it or am I just done?
Thanks alot guys.

nope, you can still lose if you want to. try looking up Dx's platue buster post. also, just increase your exercise and drop the calories. that works everytime. as for me i've stabilized at my weight and have to work at losing so you may be in the same boat. our bodies just say this is where we belong. so in essence you have to diet like everybody else on the planet to lose the weight. yep, just like the rest of the world now, do jenny craig! good luck.....carbonblob
There are all kind of little things you can do to speed up your metabolism, such as anaerobic stuff on a stationary bike (HIIT). Start gradually (1 or 2 sprints the first three weeks), increasing by maybe one sprint a week thereafter so your mind/ body don't buck the shock. We're talking 20-30 minutes 2-3 times a week. Might want to do it after work the first week, cause you'll be hashed for hours afterward until you do it a few times and the resting glucose in your muscles and your ability to recover builds up.

Just goes to show you how we're all different in how we lose our weight! Carbon Blob advises to increase the exercise and "decrease" calories - it worked for him everytime. For me the key was always to maintain/increase exercise and "increase" both calories and protein to keep that metabolism fired-up!
Around 240 pounds I'd venture to guess you're not done and still have some room for additional loss. Whatever the key is, whether it's an increase or decrease, it's important that you're keeping close tabs on what you're taking in so you can establish a baseline. Doing so, you'll be able to determine how effective your strategy is. It's trial and error, so be patient.
Here's why I think my strategy worked for me...the more weight one loses and if they exercise on a regular basis, the more calories they burn. We need calories to keep the metabolism fired-up - fuel for the furnace so to speak. If there's not enough fuel in the tank the body can/will hoard the fat stores to protect itself and the end result is rate of weight loss decreases, or the dreaded plateau, and possible muscle wasting. So - my thought was...increase the calories and the protein. This is just a theory as to what I think happened with me - and I got the desired results and never once plateaued.
Everyone is different. Don't be afraid to try different things. The surgeon and nutritionist provide basic guidelines, but only you can truly determine what works best for you.
Best wishes!

hey Tommy,
after reading dave's, card fan's and paul's post i say forget what i said! it's true, experiment with what works. if you don't get enough calories in, you go into starvation mode and store fat. so card is right, you have to get to your baseline at a minimum to lose. so re-read what they said and go for it! carbonblob

And in addition to everyone else's input,....
I had my 9 month checkup yesterday and asked about the 4-5 week plateaus I've been having before dropping 8-12 pounds then on to the next one. The Certified Nurse Practioner (CNP) told me that was very normal and expected and it was the best way to be losing as the body is transitioning the way it plans to live. If you lose it too fast, that starvation thing Card's Fans spoke off is sitting there waiting for you to take ina bit more so it can do some sotring for the next period of starvation. It sounds silly but you have to eat to lose; the healthy way.
Remember the body can not convert protein, complex carbs, or water into fat. What it doesn't use, gets passed on through. You have to get your water/fluids (64+oz a day) to keep the protein intake from developing kidney stones and the toxins flushed out. You also need muscle to burn calories. Too little protein and the body will consume your muslce tissue for protein and that also reduces your capability to burn calories. So exercise for tone or development is essential to healthy weight loss too. Do what interests you. consume what pleases you. But do.
My CNP also told me that the honeymoon isn't typically over for 12-18 months,...so while you may be an exceptions,..I'd guess the process is just slowing down because, percentage wise, you just got less to lose. Stay the course and endure to the end (goal). You've come a long way and sounds like you're doing a good job. Just keep it going!!
