I just wanted to take a minute and give a huge THANK YOU to all of you guys here in the locker room.  Taking a few minutes out of your day every day to post, whether it is great information about WLS in general, your experiences with it, or just some words of support for people thinking about having it or people who've just had it, makes all the diffence in the world to us newbies.   I look forward to reading the board every day even if I don't post that much.   Thanks again, guys.  The support you give really does have an impact on a lot of lives.

Tim, You're more than welcome. I didn't even sign on for a few months after I had surgery, so not posting much is common for a lot of us as newbies. I bet post more frequently down the road--but even if that's not your style, just saying hi (and thanks like you did today) means a lot to everyone here--chatty guys, readers, and lurkers. So thanks to you too,

Doug

Hi Tim,

Glad you like the board. This is really the only place that I post (when I actually do post).

I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if I'm much help at all. I'm about 14 months out and a past yo-yo dieter, extreme exercise (no plateus) so I'm kind of forgetting that I used to be MO and what it used to be like to  be  a pre-op.

But there are a lot of great guys out there with a lot of compassion and a wealth of knowledge.

Welcome,

Dave

Hi-Jack Sorry dudes,... Dave,....FYI, ...huge help.  Check my latest posts.  I don't remember the date but about 3 weeks ago I had a friend ask me to advise his son (a cancer survivor) on getting ready for upcoming college football season because of the transition I've experienced.  I went right to the NotDave, CarbonBlob, and AJ, supplement and exercise posts.  Put together a hybrid document for him, went and got him vitamins and supplements, had a little educational intro to what I was giving him with his dad and he called last night to tell me how pleased he was with his own progress in 3 weeks.  You are helping us OH.com WLS guys and an untold number of lurkers and related domino effects. You keep doing what your do and posting what you post and we'll keep reading, learning,...and even being sometimes amused.   Oh yeah, and that sprinting stuff for my swimming 13 yr old daughter.  You're even helping the swm chicks!! Thanks, Joe!

That's good to hear. My job here in Japan can be both the best and the worst. I get a lot of attention and I have a lot of freedom, but most of the time I'm alone, so I tend to blurt out about what I'm doing. It's a form of necessary self-expression, I suppose.

Your posts are always very helpful, as well. Thanks for always being around.

When I think of swim training, sprints always come to mind, anyway. Where your daughter might be benefitting is if she is doing some cross-training outside of the water in an upright position and getting the heart-rate a little higher. Bike is good and run is better, if she doesn't get injured. I suggested the row machine, and that would indeed be best if she can do sprints on it. I suppose it's possible (?) I do know that rowing machines offer the highest heartrate of any form of exercise, because of the simultaneous full range in both upperbody and lower. And being a female, she may benefit even more from sprinting that involves both upper and lower body.

Talk to You Soon,

Dave

Tim, Welcome to the Men's board.  A great group of guys that have loads of experience and advice.  Unfortunately I didn't find them until long after I had surgery, but they are still a constant support even now as I have reached goal.  The exercise guru's in here have been so helpful too.  Look forward to more of your postings.  Good luck. Tim, Glad to have you here, and glad to have this place. It is somewhat unique. I do have another Board that I post to that is full of “old-azzes” who are dealing with 4 year+ issues. The guys here are a fun bunch .  Not easily offended, and happy to share their experience or info. Throw out a question and some one here is likely to have Some similar story to swap. Best Wishes- Dx
